Cannie see a thread for this, the recent movie. Got it oot on DVD. Good if depressing and disturbing film. Phoenix well worth his Oscar.

Very thought provoking movie. One of those movies that your thinking about it days later. Definitely enjoyed it.

One thing that bugged me being a gun guy. He uses a .38 special S&W revolver that holds five rounds, yet fires eight rounds in one scene.

Do you ever do that talk to the mirror thing with your weapon in hand?

You talkin’ to me Tough guy

Liked it. It had elements of an old De Niro film, “The King of Comedy” about it. And of course De Niro himself stars in it.

That’s why it’s called a special because it only holds 5 but fires 8.
Damn clever these yanks.

It's good. It's certainly a lot better than its detractors would have you believe without being perfect.

It maybe wears it influences on its sleeve a bit too much. I noticed "homages" to King of Comedy, Taxi Driver, French Connection, Death Wish, Network...

There were a few clunky bits of dialogue too, the "what do you get when you cross..." line was a bit on the nose.

Phoenix papers over any cracks in the script with a powerhouse performance though. Way beyond what you would expect in a comic book movie.

Very common in films though.

Rambo doesnt reload half as much as he realistically would need too.
