Reading the latest transfer gossip I see Real Madrid are favourites to sign David Alaba (Bayern Munich & Austria) because Chelsea cannot meet his weekly wage demand of 400,000 quid per week?
How long can this crazy shit go on?
 
And that's probably after tax!

Last I heard international transfer negotiations were net of tax so that players knew what was landing in their bank account without the hassle of working out various countries tax regimes.

The clubs are supposed to pick up the tax bill.
