The ashes

Controversial opinion, but Bazball has spoiled Test cricket. I miss the nuance, subtlety, skill and challenges of the five-day game. Now it's all fast bowlers hammering it down and batsmen slugging it away. It's no different to the white ball game now, which I think is a shame.

Sorry Joe. Am I the only one on here who wouldnae watch cricket or NFL if ye paid me.

BIG G
I'm with you on this G.

Rugby with shoulder pads goes on for hours and is boring.

Cricket just doesn't appeal.

Might i add baseball.

When out mate took us to Chicago one time he took us to the Cubs v Brewers game at Wrigley Fields.

They keep stopping for adverts to be shown I think we lasted about 30 mins before going to the boozer

Dont agree on NFL, but baseball, aye. Went to a Yankees-Mets game and froze my arse off for about 4 hours, and there was a handful of runs. Glorified rounders. Worse than rounders in fact!

Love cricket, amazing spectacle if quickly over this first Test.

Also love Am Football as I used to practice routes and plays with other fans here in Haarlem back in the day and got a real feel for just how different it is from its original rugby format.

Now retired, I have managed to spend a bit of time learning baseball as I always wanted to know more about it but never found the time when working to look up the rules so you can enjoy it properly when watching.

Don't think I will manage the same with NHL or Basketball though... so be it!

I was one of those that moaned about cricket for years, but 20/20 changed my mind. IPL especially. Test is no as good, but it does seem to be changing. Interesting to see thats a bad thing for the purists right enough!

Weirdly enough, I am in Adelaide just now I had to be at the Adelaide convention center the same day the cricket was on yesterday. The convention center is practically next door to the oval. Great buzz about the place as the cricket is well attended by both Aussies and English. Iโ€™ve never watched cricket but have been keeping an eye on it and watching the highlights which is good. Bloody roasting yesterday and today.

I've never had a problem cheering on Ingerlund in the cricket, because for all the exhausting media dickheads they are essentially an all-island team, and were de facto the UK & Ireland side until a few years ago. Dominated by private school dickheads but, like, so are the Ireland side, it's the nature of the professional pathway here unfortunately.

Anyway they've been fuckin rancid this ashes. Reflective of the fact that they're just a worse team, in unfamiliar conditions, with important gaps in the XI. But rancid all the same.
