In light of the discussions a few seasons ago as how to increase our attendance it does appear success on the park is the greatest influence. Ok Motherwell didn't increase much after they won the Scottish Cup, but their fan base is much lower. I do feel we are moving into an era where crowds are very much going to influence things on the park...ie more money equals better players... better players mean more wins. (normally) The win today by that lot over Hamilton tells me that teams with significant crowds and revenue will draw away from those who cannot manage more than 2-5k supporters.
Teams like Hamilton and Ross County and even Livi have done remarkably well considering their support and finance. However I believe we will see the likes of the ugly sisters, the 2 Edinburgh teams and Aberdeen flex their muscles over the coming years and I would imagine the likes of Hamilton and Livi will drop out the SPL before long. The rest will be low to mid table teams. Only the likes of Dundee, Dun united and maybe Dunfermline...possibly killie will have a fan base big enough to challenge these foresaid teams. Cup runs are going to be crucial for these teams
Will be interesting to see if the likes of Miller at Livi or Stubbs at St Mirren can stabilise and grow
