Scored again today..did we play him out of position? not give him a chance? did PF not see his capabilities? Do County have better players that suit his style?

Or maybe he's not get gettintg told he's shite by his own fans everytime he comes on.it looks like he has been given a free role upfront at county,

There's no pressure on him anymore, when he came on for us we all seem to expect him to have worked miracles, and when he didn't he got pelted with undeserved abuse.

The fact that county play counter attacking football suits Sproule. We don't play that way.

Both the expectation and the resultant abuse he faced in his 2nd stint for us were ridiculous. People seemed to think he was somehow magically able to control games and do untold damage at will. His performances must have been affected by that to some degree.

However, I strongly feel that he wasn't used in the right way 2nd time round. He always seemed to get the ball to his feet rather than being given a ball in behind the defence to chase down. From BBC match reports, it seems that a good few of his Ross Co goals have been from this latter strategy. Far from rocket science but we never seemed to do it.

:banger:

Beginning to wonder if I know anything about football after all, we certainly do not play attacking football but defend and attempt to stop the opposition scoring then try and grab one on the break, don't we?

I would aye to that!

Ivan isn't a good defender. He's not very good at winning 60 yard " flick ons" :banger:
Go figure :detective:

You say "tomato" I say "tomato" See when we hit a long ball, it is to try and catch the opponent on the break, I think.

Yeah I reckon we're trying to put a ball behind and try catching a defender out (like the goal against Celtic) as opposed to trying to get Doyle and Griffiths to challenge for it, that just happens alot because most defenders are awake during the game...

And technically that is a form of counter attacking football, is it not?

Difficult to argue with that logic Eck. Going by the little I have seen of Ross County they play the ball more or les on the deck and in front of Ivan whereas we would lump the ball towards him 2 different styles of counterattacking. I know which one I would prefer to see Hibs employ.

Of course, but only if the rest of the players support the ball.

We try to play it and then expect Leigh and Eoin do the work.
In order to make it work the wide me need to press hard and the midfielders need to charge forward to move it forward quickly when the defender wins it and puts it forward.

Just watched the last 25mins of the Sheep v RossCo game.

Ivan gets subbed on 70mins for Glen and has a hissy fit so DA gives him a wee squeeze of the neck. Ivan then spins around to confront DA. Who scores the winner for RossCo? Yip, you guessed it- Glen.

:rollfloor:rollfloor:rollfloor

On a serious note, though, RossCo are looking very dangerous. The Sheep on the other hand are sheeite.

Ross County are on a great run and now pushing for a Euro place. He`s a good manager Adams. It does make you wonder what our situation might be now if Rod, instead of appointing him as the assistant, had grabbed him as our manager in the first place instead of that useless dickhead Calderwood and his sweetie shop. We`ll never know.

I would hope to see DA back at ER some day (although obviously not right now cos Pat is class :yeah:). He's the youngest manager in the SPL and just look what he's doing with a club the size of RossCo.

A few minutes after that spat with Ivan this evening, the cameras went back to them. DA had gone and sat down beside him to explain his decision & talk him round. Excellent man-management IMO. The guy has a BIG future in management.

Yep, i noticed that as well. A lot of speculation that he`ll replace Pa Broon at the sheep in the summer. It wouldn`t surprise me at all. :hmmm
