....may not feel like it has completely sprung, but wtf, 1st March is close enough to stick two fingers up to winter. Feck it seems to have lasted forever.

Onwards to the gid part of the year :yeah:

Aye. January-February truly is the long, dark teatime of the soul.

Still Baltic though.

I'm looking forward to 'Harrington day' - the day of the year when I walk outside, sniff the air, go back in and hang up my warm coat til next year and come back out with the eponymous jacket on. It's a little landmark moment for me each year. Might well not be till April this year, or even May, with how Baltic it is now.

I cycle a lot and race for Musselburgh Roads Cycle Club. Out in the elements maist days. I reckon there hasnae been a proper winter for nigh on three years. Scottish weather is really unpredictable between October and April.

Proper snowy winters are not as bad as the permanent grey, dank, windy season we get most years now.

The Daily Express has forecast blizzards and 2 foot of snow for the last 3 years.

admittedly i'm at the other end of the country from most of you but this year the winter has been great - winters with cold clear crisp days and that special light are about my favourite season of the year. One thing I notice is that in general people who experience weather from indoors or in transits between two indoor places generally complain about weather more than people who spend a lot of time in amongst it.....reduced daylight hours impact especially if you're inside a lot.

anyone take Vitamin D this winter? if so be interested if you noticed an impact.

Winter has been OK I think. Based on golf and golf courses, nothing too windy or course closures, no temporary greens at my usual spots and I can't think of any occasion where the weather has stopped us from playing.

Roll on March the 25th and the clocks going forward and longer days, warmer weather and evening rounds.

I don't mind winter per se - I've spent winters in environments where it was below -30 most
Of the time and thought it was tremendous. But the grey dirge of an urban pseudo winter (i.e. When it doesn't get full on snow etc) is just soul sapping I find. I take your point about outdoors vs in - I do think switching between climates and constantly getting wrapped up and unwrapped again adds to the dispiriting nature of it.

I should add I spent this winter mostly in grimly norvern hellholes in Saxon land where it was wet and windy as fuck as well as generally miserable, so this has no doubt influenced my feelings this year!

Oddly, I am low on vitamin D this spring and the doctor told me to take a vitamin D supplement. Well it's probably not that odd considering I have not been outside very much during winter. It has been a very wet winter this year, particularly at the weekends.

Not even down to your local Jim? [as opposed to your local gym] or is that a drive away.

Nah, hardly ever go to a boozer but the nearest one is too much of a hike for me. It has been so wet here that all our softball games since the start of January have been rained out bar one. And really that's the only thing that gets me outdoors in the winter. Forecast rain for this Sunday too !

Spring is sprung, the grass is riz.

I wonder where the boidie is.

The boidie’s on the wing I've hoid.

But that’s absoid. The wing is on the boid.

Given the abject failure of Osbournes great reviival [remember the defecit was going to be down to 0 by 2016] it seems highly likely that further swingeing cuts are on the way. There will be a knock on effect to the Barnett pmts to Scotland and Ruthie and Maw Broon, who's parties down south will waive the cuts through, will demand that the SNP "do more" to protect jobs and social services up here and mock when Sturgeon mentions that it's down to cuts imposed by Westminster.

So Osborne failed by not cutting enough, which will necessitate more cuts, which the snp will argue are not necessary. Have I got that right?

Not if you read what I typed you haven't.

Cannae mind the second verse, not even sure where it's from,it just sprung to mind.:detective:

It's known as Spring in the Bronx and is anonymous but attributed to Ogden Nash.

Jack is being a bit of a :077: here as there is no second verse.
