I always assumed she was a well regarded political journalist and presenter. Watching her today she's an absolute lightweight. Starts off asking the topical questions then lets the politician waffle their nonsense and turn her question into an opportunity to churn out their message, nearly always followed by Sophie saying "OK" and moving on to the next question
Are there any Paxman types left on British tv?

Like watching and listening to a lassie just out of school on a work experience project.
However I find almost all MSM political coverage to be of a similar standard.
It's like as a nation we are regressing back to adolescence.

I really don't watch much British telly. The odd time I'll flick on Sky news until their obsession (or is it British viewers obsession) with the weather has me reaching for the remote. Something I have noticed though is after an interview with a politician they bring out another journalist to give their opinion on what was said. What the fuck is that all about? Some political presenter's opinion isn't news.

Incredible to think a proper journalist like Andrew Neil was dropped by the BBC.

I'm of the opinion that when anyone is interviewing a politician especially the opposition they give them the three strikes rule.

We all know what the current government is doing. We want to hear what THEY plan to do.

So they are allowed to say 'this government' three times. If they say it once more cut the interview.

Also any politico who refuses to answer a question more than three times then cut them of also.

Beth rigby is very subtle in probing politicians and usually make them nervous. The only one I rate at all. The rest are just poor at their job. Don't watch the news at all now. Waste of time.

There’s a real issue…her job is to get the interviews, if you press too hard they just refuse to come on.

I stopped listening to R4 today for that reason, it was infuriating listening to people run through a pre arranged script in answer to questions.

Latterly nobody wanted to be interviewed by him
Yip. That charlatan Johnson ran a mile. Andrew Neil has right wing pro union politics himself but nobody can doubt his impartiality forensically interviewing politicians. He's superb at it. Sadly the trend is not to hold them to account....

Comcast.

Now given, the Conservative government waved through the acquisition by Comcast from News International with "no concerns" I'm joining the dots together and getting to yet another right wing controlled media outlet?
