Scottish Elections (2026)

Oh no there isn’t. Both Labour and the Tories are dead ducks. Lib Dems? 🤣 Greens? Not to everyone’s taste.
So it’s heading for a straight fight between Reform and SNP up here come the general election. I think even ‘Scottish’ Labour branch office might jump to backing independence once they see the writing on the wall for their English colleagues.
Let's see where we are in three years. It is tricky for Labour being squeezed between two nationalist parties, but there's a lot to happen between now and any general election.

Do you think they’ll see out the parliamentary term? Not looking likely at the moment.

I think politics is in a mess. You’ve got the SNP voted in again despite all the problems re NHS,trans, women wi’ ba’s , education , housing, high taxes etc. and their disastrous love in wi the greens.
You’ve got the greens with a foreign trans student, who doesn’t have permanent residency earning 70000 a year and the only thing he/she/they have said of note so far is to slag off white people.
Conservatives have gone down the drain and Labour, after two disastrous racist leaders are rapidly following them.
And you’ve got the rise of reform which is only likely to continue if the major politicians don’t get their houses in order and listen to concerns about immigration, which , like it or not is a major issue, ever rising welfare bills and taxes to pay for them, and the frightening state of our armed forces

Who were the 'recist Labour leaders'?

Im not sure you can blame other parties for the complete ineptitude and lack of vision Labour have....I do agree though that 3 years could see big changes

Three years is a hell of a long time in politics.
Much can happen and to be honest I don't see why any party bothers issuing a manifesto before an election because it's impossible to carry it out.
Everything is driven by events...mainly world events.

The 2008 Financial crash which we have never recovered from, Austerity, Brexit, Covid, and Liz Truss...some made by the previous Conservative governments, and the other a global health disaster IMO created in a lab in China. All have had calamitous consequences for the world.

Labour MP's are in panic mode. Nothing like the fear of being kicked out by the voters to get the alarm bells ringing.
They are about to do what the Tories did twice and ditch an elected PM for an untried Rookie....that worked well for them right enough

A Reform government would be a disaster, but the election is three years away...I just can't understand it.
Maybe it's a dictatorship we need.

As I understand it.

There is a convention (custom) that if something is in the winning party manifesto then the Lords will not do anything to block it. The reasoning behind it is that the people (electorate) has voted for it.

I know what you're saying though.

I see Glasgow City Council have refused to give the royal regiment of Scotland the freedom of the city. Mibbaes take away a' the MoD contracts that employ thousands of folk in the west
