Scotland

I remember his dad playing in goal for us, not for long though.
He played in the derby game when we beat them 2-1, I think Kevin Harper scored but I can't remember much more about his time here.

Signed a two year contract in the summer and then broke his ankle I think before the first league game. Came to an arrangement to terminate his contract.

Has Bain gone so far downhill since he peremptorily left us for mair dosh the soapies?

I think it was a mistake to prefer Gordon over Bain, and not give him opportunities to see where he is at for international football.

I think he should have got an opportunity.

It’s Scotland, if there’s a way to fuck it up, we will find it 🙈 There’s no way that Porteous is not, if not better than anyone in that defence. Christ Hendry cost us last game and after ban walks straight back in and he is shite.
Very strange that RP nowhere near that squad.
Gerard successful along with the media in fucking his career up?
I know he hasn’t helped himself, but who in that defence has?
Ryan was arguably our best central defender in the qualifiers for the Euros, makes a bad mistake against Germany and despite being recalled for another game in the group has be punted from the entire squad since.

As you say, regardless of which league he currently plays in, hes as good as, if not better (and I suspect the latter) than any of our current central defenders. At the very least he should be in the squad

Hendry is poor and was shocking last night. Porteous can't be as bad as that.

Binks is poor and was shocking for one of their goals last night,

The commentator was banging on about how Ferguson gets better every game, but by last night's showing, it's a low fucking bar because he was crap.

Robertson has got to 100, so they can put him out to grass, but I've no idea how he even got to 100 in the first place.

McBurnie is not good enough, and how he gets a start ahead of Bowie is beyond me.

I don't know, but the players looked knackered tonight after playing 4 games in 12 days.
Could have done with more changes just to freshen things up a bit.

Trying to see positives, I think the new players who came in done reasonably well in these games.
It's going to take a while though, and in the modern era of football you don't get time.
Clarke, as I said in the summer, overall was a very good Scotland manager...probably the best we have ever had.
He got the most out of a limited squad of players, not always, but most of the time.
Qualified for three tournaments which is exceptional for Scotland since the 90's.

Our big problem is that since the 1970s and 1980's (the absolute golden age of scottish international football) we have just failed as a nation to produce good enough players to compete at international level. Until we start doing that, we are going to continue as we are no matter who the manager is.

I want to see a completely new Scotland team built by Pocognoli, and to be honest, if that means we fail to qualify for Euros
or World Cups then so be it if that is how long it takes to eventually get us competing again as a football nation.
I fear we may be in the doldrums for a few years. Hopefully we start bringing through more technically gifted players with better game awareness. May take a few years though as you said.
