Would have preferred an additional striker, what’s happened to plooky ?

Has Josh Doig been out of form or injured or what? Saw him playing a couple of weeks ago and he looked pretty decent I thought?

Ditto, for whatever reason they are finding it difficult to slot him into that squad is hard to understand.

Tierney, Robertson and Hickey ahead of him though?
They would just be taking him along to watch them play.

You can see why Scotland struggle. For me the following players are not international class and are definite weak points
The 3 keepers
Hanley, Hendry, McKenna, Ralston and Souttar are quite scary to think they will form part of our defence
Christie and McLean
Adam’s and Dykes.
All of the above would struggle to be starters for Hibs, never mind Scotland.

I think you'll find Hanley will be a regular starter for Hibs, anyway that's not why I interrupted 😉

There just aren't any international class keepers born or grannied into Scotland.

The only other keeper worth a mention is Angus Gunn. Norwich let him go last season and has only made the bench at Forrest. I don't know if there's a problem??? He's only 29, no age for a keeper.

Scotland hasn't had a decent spine for as long as I can remember.

Hard to disagree with that

Another thing not helping the Scottish team is that 196 out of 313 players in the SPFL are foreign.

I know lots of good Scots play overseas but if our young laddies aren't given the chance in Scotland ...

Christie woukld struggle to get a game for Hibs,,,, seriously? One of the top midfield performers in the EPL last year. Now if you said Clarke plays him in the wrong position where he is not effective, I would agree.

Why include 33 yr old Kenny McLean? He’s hardly a first choice pick, very unlikely to be part of any tournament in the future if we did qualify and there’s certainly others more deserving of a place in the squad, who could help us build for the future.
That's Steve Clarke for you

We definitely have a problem with the goalkeeper position now.
Gordon was a top class keeper, but he is finished now. I don't see another international class keeper anywhere.
Kieron Bowie is the big hope for us in terms of goalscoring.
Unfortunately several of Scotland's better performers in recent years are reaching the veteran stage, and we don't have a lot coming through.
I'm always surprised Liam Henderson never gets quoted.
Whatever happened to that Ross Stewart laddie at Southampton ?

Dykes up front alongside Bowie would be pretty effective imo.

Ah, I thought plooky was craig gordon 🤣
Shankenstein def played last saturday, so if he’s injured now he must’ve banged his heid on something, no surprise there 🤣
Some crossed wires needing uncrossing tbf 😩
My bad if plooky wasnae Legoheid, gets called all sorts but seemed odd to mention a goalie in a post about strikers?

Whatevs, we shall see...

Craig Gordon wasnt even able to play 10 seconds of his testimonial, definitely shouldn't be anywhere near the Scotland squad now.

As for the rest of it.
We don't have a huge talent pool and without digging too deep into grandparents and the likes we'll continue being a safety first team. Led by a safety first coach, hired by a safety first Rod (rip)

Scottish football is still a bit away from being anything more than that. Even Celtic and Hunco go safety first when they're in Europe.
It's the Scottish way it seems.

Disagree with Hendry, hard to argue with the rest

No matter what you think of Shanklandstein, he kens where the goal is....

His first 2 seasons for Hearts were blistering. Last year doesn't look so hot though.
Loads of attempts and not much of a return.

Falling down that hill hopefully.

No place for that GK that played against Iceland recently in a friendly and had a shocker? Slicker? Don't think he'd played a single competitive league match before Clarke gave him his international debut.

Surely Josh Mulligan a better shout than the likes of Kenny Mclean. Our midfield is our strongest area though.

I struggle with the hate for McKenna to be honest.

In the past 3 seasons he has played for Nottingham Forest in the EPL, Copenhagen in the Champions League, Las Palmas in La Liga and signed for Dinano Zagreb in the summer who are sitting top of their league after 4 games and haven’t conceded a goat yet.

Robertson aside, he’s arguably the Scottish defender who’s, consistently, playing at the highest level.

There’s a very capable defender playing in the MLS who can’t get in that defense as well 🤷‍♂️
