What might it be?

I’ve seen folk speculate elsewhere, they might try and buy their way into the UCL.

What if in fact, the Saudis do what they did with golf and become a rival entity, specifically, resurrecting the super league pish under their auspices and including their own Potemkin clubs?

I for one would welcome that if the Chelskis and Man City’s of the world were excluded from UEFA and FA membership if they went there. The worst scenario, as used to be discussed in relation to the OF going south, is if they got to leave behind b sides that still dominated. Fuck that.

Other than the obvious sport washing, anyone else got any thoughts on what they are up to?

Don't know what they are up to, but it was a bizarre sight on holiday to see skunks dressed in white shirts with green trim

The Saudi league still isn't a great standard. I've seen some of the highlights with Ronaldo and the players he's playing against are p*ss poor. They still have some way to go if they are trying to make it one of the best leagues IMO.

On the topic of the UCL and Saudi teams trying to buy their way in it would be too far for teams in Europe to travel. A 10+ hour journey on a flight per journey from the UK. As well there is a time difference of 2hrs which just doesn't really fit the current TV schedule.

Already a competition scheduled.

So psg now been offered 300m euro for Mbappe who will get 700m for one year there.

I mean that is genuinely obscene. At this level we will have players buying the clubs they want to go back to.

It is obscene but I'm finding it funny as fuck especially when it comes to the EPL fan boys and pundits taking the humpty.

Then some cnut get a hold of Mbappe and convince him he played for Hibs....

I think this will be good for our national team in the long run. These "superstars" will be on holiday and second gear all season long. There's no chance they are going to be going at it with the same intensity. No European games, playing against piss poor players. They will regress in that environment.

I agree with that, though we may not be laughing for long. This looks more and more to me like a prelude to a new super league with major Saudi involvement

There's already a tournament involving those teams and others due to be played summer 2025.

World football dominance is the goal imo. Let's be honest, they could purchase Sky tomorrow.
It won't work. No matter how many Mbappe type players they buy it will be as far removed from me as Man City and PSG are now. It won't stop me going to ER.

With LIV golf the Saudis gave up trying to buy up all the top talent and just bought the PGA administrators instead, wonder if they would attempt the same with UEFA? Of course they don't have a rival organisation just yet other than the Saudi league but you could see it happening. Some kind of global elite super league.

The European super league only got binned last time due to the blowback from the fans, with the guaranteed Saudi £££'s that'd be unlikely to happen this time around. I kind of hope this happens actually just to see the Talksport/Sky/EPL fan boys meltdown (initially, eventually they'd probably embrace it). Would be the end of watching top level fitba for me, I know a lot of folk have reached this point already.

"Just me and the Hibs from now on bbz, too many snakes out there!"

Me either archie, I'll always go to hibs no matter what, but imo the Saudis will hoover up a lot of the cream of world players on rediculous wages, which uefa / fifa should be questioning but won't, and quiet readily Sky may choose to show their games for that reason. I seriously hope not though.

And all this time we in Scotland have been made to believe oil is worthless 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 and yet lots actually believe it… what was it the tories said 👀 oh yeah it was actually a hindrance to Scotland and they have to bail us out 🤣🤣 how gullible people are.
And i know it cost more to get it out the North Sea, but Norway have done ok 🤷‍♂️
