Last time I was in there was after the Michael Whelahan ceremony up at Mount Vernon.

Only time I've ever been stood up was when I was meant to meet a lassie in the Robins Nest which for a boy from Broomhouse was a bit of a risky venture. Stayed for two pints then buggered off when it was clear she wasn't being fashionably late.

I still go in occasionally. Usually only on a Sunday if there’s some decent games on. So tend to miss the powder keg moments. It’s usually fine and I’ll know half the guys that are in. Was my Dad’s local after the Libby shut.

Hope this doesn’t spell the end for it like it did the Marmion, as you say Mitchell’s the only other option. Maybe the Waverley at a push!
