Record number of referrals made to anti-terrorism scheme

The discrepancy vs MI5 caseload and terror events is quite notable. It is perhaps revealing of who reports and who doesn't, and also a self fulfilling process of Prevent getting what they measure. After all, their own definitions of extreme right would capture much of the population.

Extreme right-wing concerns accounted for the highest proportion of referrals at 38%.

Reflects the same result in England and Wales.
Do you actually believe that when the police openly state over 50,000 Muslims are on the Terror watch list?

When was the last far right terror attack anyway?

Answers on a postcard.

Its amazing the bullshit that people believe these days.

This is not the same as how many potential terrorists there are Ryan, in fact it's not related at all to what MI5 actually contend with. It's a result of a self fulfilling process where a captured organisation, Prevent, labels much of the population as extreme right wing, then has a stasi-informant class of fellow ideologues grassing up their pupils, colleagues etc. Notice how the combined total of trans and leftist radicals reported appears to be zero.

Which keeps them busy enough to repeatedly ignore warnings on the likes of Axel Rudukabana. Probably not helped by other arms of the state chastising panicked teaching staff for describing him as sinister and charging that this was racial profiling of a black boy with a knife : hence reports on him which sought to raise the alarm, were softened.

Much of our state apparatus is hopelessly corrupted I'm afraid, and actually set up to steer away from the truth.

Pretty sure it's 80% of all on the terror watch list are Muslim....

So that stat kind of proves its absolute garbage.

Its pretty funny how the same pack of hyenas always back each other up....when it's clear nonsense.

Still waiting to hear of the last far right terror attack.

I think it's 90%. The 80% figure was their total effort devoted towards islamism - they'll have external threats contributing to their total effort which I expect explains the difference vs watch list ratios. I think that 80 is now 75 and probably for that very reason as the Russian threat has stepped up

The prevent figures will be heavily influenced by who grasses folk for wrong think alongside real risks, and also who doesn't get grassed on, so not the same thing at all

And if someone can clarify what far right is now as

If you know there is a clear problem into certain Pakistani communities and grooming gangs
Are against the parasites called the Royal Family
Against an invasion of UK
Know the Government are corrupt
Are against Communism
Can see through the propaganda.
Know Big Pharma...want repeat custom

Then your Far Right.

Where id class it really as...right so far.

90% makes that article all the more bullshit then.

But certain sheep will believe anything they are told I guess.

Out of curiosity.....Is Tony Blair on the Terror Watchlist?

Id not..why not?

That man should have been hung decades ago...but still influences UK Politics.

Right wing, extreme right wing means fuck all these days. Its a term thats been used tae exhaustion
It really doesn't, just look it up.

Prevent defines extreme right as an umbrella term for ideologies like cultural nationalism, white nationalism, and white supremacism, which seek to undermine fundamental democratic values, often exhibit hostility towards minorities, and may believe violence between ethnic or religious groups is inevitable. It includes a focus on ideologies that advocate for the overthrow of the UK's democratic system and a belief in racial hierarchy.

Perfectly clear and perfectly specific.

Prevent says this. The third is def far right, the second is absymally defined and a sort of mishmash of the other two. In any case ethnonationalism is found on the far right but also on the far left when applied to other peoples (Palestinian stuff for example, and historically any number of 'national liberation' movements. It also encompasses whole nations in much of the world.

However, the first includes the majority of the population and is total bullshit. Interesting it is listed first. Maybe just because of alphabetical order, or maybe because it encompasses tens of millions as opposed to just tens for white supremacism?

Meanwhile, this is a bit kludgy an all. Where does left wing anti semitism sit vis a vis hostility towards minorities, and where does racism from non whites sit?

No it doesn't. You
miss out the fundamental part of the definition which is to advocate dsdiscrimination or violence against minority groups. The three areas provide the narratives.

So yeah if you a western culture warrior then crack on. Prevent doesn give a toss. However it will get interested if you want to go on and inflict harms.

Nonsense. You could have that preamble and then follow it with a description of the Palestinian obsessives, or trans activists.

It may be the case that they are only interested in adherents ready to do violence or whatever, but they are quite clearly positioning those positions as 'extreme right' ones which may give rise to it. Hence why no keffiyeh klan etc (which also begs the question as to where the biggest campaign of racist discrimination, harm and violence is is captured where the perps aren't islamists).

Since words are violence and anything you like can be discrimination, I suspect their interest will be pretty free ranging, but the point stands independently of that: they view a majority position which is not inherently political, as an extreme right one.

Or put another way, they view those concerns as extreme right, and therefore harm coming from them as extreme right terrorism

Ps @Bossie Prevent explicitly target non-violent people or things that fall into their definitions

Here is a critique of that from the left containing a link to the Prevent strategy which states that

Put it all together and I suspect it explains why Prevent headlines are so out of whack with MI5 caseload (75-80% islamism), MI5 watch list (90% islamism) and deaths from terrorism over the last couple of decades (94% islamism)
