Rangers have bought Johnny Rotten

Rangers have bought Johnny Rotten??

Seemingly they wanted him because he knew the words of "God save the Queen"....

On the subject of footballers with mental names, could any of you help clear up an "Urban Legend" I heard in the 90's?

That was , Celtic was going to sign the Huns current captain, Davie Weir, but stopped when someone pointed out to them the potential back line of

Weir Tebilly Scheidt

Or was that just a joke at the time?

It may have been a joke once upon a time :read:

So does anyone know if it was just a joke, or was their any truth in it...?

I think it was just a joke.

I did laugh at it at the time though.

I would have thought that type of humour would have been above someone interested in the likes of up, down, charm and strange :coffee:

Oh, and tops and bottoms too :read:

No, The new Huns name just brought it back in my memory.

I thought it was a joke, but a few people seriously told me that the Soapies backed off a deal because of it... But seen as Celtic only ever called the guy "Raphael" , I doubted the truth of it...
