He believes Putin more than them...

We really do live in the most fuckin incredible times.

Has he the authority to sack a few of the top boys there and replace them? It does appear in the USA the CIA/FBI run the country and manipulate the world to their agenda...or maybe I have watched too many movies

Not like the CIA hasn't lied in the past.

They have, but exclusively in what they consider to be America's interest. I suppose they might be lying because they think Trump is a bigger threat than Russia but given their history, the circumstances, and what's best for them it seems incredibly unlikely.

I shall be interested to see how you guys spin a win for Trump after he's shagged relations with China and there's a new cold war on.

i think they might view the threat of trump and Russia as inter-related and the former the most immediate manifestation of it.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but trump's chances of completing his term in office are interesting to ponder.

Now nearly 3 million behind Clinton on the popular vote count, his presidency is going to be chaos I think.

Boeing and Lockheed Martin are beasts you don't annoy I'd wager, and I wonder if some pals of Trump are sitting waiting on his tweets to jump on these companies stocks when he muses...

Don't think the popular vote is the issue - that's their system however bizarre - as much as the threat he poses to the entire liberal / globalist establishment both left and right. Many many powerful enemies, and many many of the political interests and divisions they sponsor, are in play. He'll need to keep his eyes open.

I agree. I meant that I doubt they are inventing stuff about Russia purely to smear Trump because they dislike him. ie I expect they perceive the Russian threat is real, and is affecting their commander in chief, which is effectively what they are claiming. As opposed to smearing Trump with lies about Russia.

I don't believe the CIA would bump off Trump, if that's what you mean, although one can hope I suppose. But if you are an organisation that has a legacy of years of fighting Russians and their proxies, and who now thinks that the old enemy holds sway over your actual president, then I understand why you might be alarmed. And consider it a national security threat.

Slightly amusing side note: I had an exchange on another forum with a Trump advocate who was literally claiming that fake news stories should not be criticised 'because of freedom of speech'. I replied that as a closeted gay Mexican in denial he would say that. Whereupon he became indignant and demanded a source for my fabrication. You couldn't make this stuff up.

I saw a story yesterday that there was some suspicious activity before Trump's tweet but I'm not sure it stands up. I believe some HFT firms use twitter triggers to action trades but it all sounds rather obscure.

I agree re Boeing and LM, and I think the issue for him goes back to what I've always thought of him - that he appeals to people because he is the embodiment of what they imagine to be the best way of 'dealmaking'. Which they think, because they are naive, is a sort of cartoon where you crush people into submission via a combination of bullying, bravado and some kind of magic x factor. This is after all how 'deals' are done in films.

But in real life that won't fly because the enemy has a stick too. And things you want. Diplomacy and brinkmanship is hard and requires concessions and balance. Basically he's going to alienate his base (and screw everything up) because the one trick they think he has doesn't actually work.

HenryLB I don't think they'd bump him off either but there are other ways to make problems go away. I do think trump has more chance of being bumped off than any president since the attacking on Reagan given the sheer volume of interests he threatens. I don't think it will happen, in fact I'm generally a sceptic that such 'Hollywood' things are likely in real life; so I don't think he's at really risk of that, just more at risk that than prior presidents.

One way or the other I think it's even money whether he completes a term (unforced implosion being a reasonable possibility amongst others)

You think the Chinese are relaxed about the One China policy? And that Peter Navarro is a neutral pick to head up Trade and industrial Policy? Because in the last couple of weeks Trump has screwed with the first and appointed the latter. Relations are almost certainly about to get worse, and if you can think of another reason for that other than Trump then I'd love to hear it.
