Ian Black victim of ‘smear campaign’
Former Rangers midfielder says he has been the victim of untruthful rumours spread by someone inside Ibrox following his departure from the club this summer.
Black took a while to find a new side after being released in early June, only signing with English League One side Shrewsbury Town earlier this month.
Black believes, once he left Ibrox, someone within the club started bad-mouthing him around Scottish football circles.
He told the Scottish Sun: “I know someone was trying to stab me in the back while I was trying to find a new club. I still don’t know who it was because whoever did it wasn’t man enough to tell me to my face. But it must have been someone at Rangers — it can’t have been anyone else.”
Crikey!
Ian Black the victim of a smear campaign apparently.
That’s disgusting. And what’s worse, they did it in a cowardly way and couldn’t tackle him head on. Sneaky bastards just putting the boot in when he wasn’t expecting it. That sort of reprehensible behaviour is quite capable of ending a career.
A shocking way to treat a professional footballer.
I wonder what ‘bad-mouthing’ the cowards were doing?
It must have been something really awful for the poor lad to be complaining about his treatment in the gutter press – some fiction like he is a sly wee git who would bet against his team winning games maybe. That would be a terrible thing to say wouldn’t it.
And spreading that around ‘Scottish football circles’ – well – that’s just despicable. Because there is absolutely no way that anyone in ‘Scottish football circles’ would have anything other than the highest opinion of the paragon of virtue that is Mr Black.
