I need help with this as my memory is a bit cloudy.
But as I remember Hibs sold Cormack to Nottingham Forest with an agreement that they would play Hibs at Easter road later in the year for a friendly.
I remember in that friendly Cormack put the head on a Hibs player big hit and dropped him to the ground. As a result he was sent off.
What I need to know,
Was it Nottingham forest or perhaps Sunderland?
Who was the Hibs player?
What was the score?
I remember there was quite a big crowd there so some of you would have been there.
Certainly a dark day for a Hibs legend.

Was it no Bristol City in the Anglo-Scottish Cup? 1-1 I think. Cannie mind Hibs player.
It was indeed.
Hibs drew 1-1 with Bristol City in the Anglo Scottish Cup in 1977,and Peter Cormack was sent off after headbutting Des Bremner.
Chairman Tom Hart branded them "Butchers" in a comment after the game.

As others have said, pretty sure the head butt and sending off were when he was playing for Bristol City in the Anglo-Scottish v Hibs. Peter was sold by Hibs to Forest, spent a shortish and successful time at the City Ground and was then taken by Bill Shankly to Liverpool. After his time there he went to Bristol City.
