Watched my grandson's games for 4 or 5 years and any dissent by parents has resulted in the parent been told to leave the side of the park or the game gets abandoned. Never seen any of the coaches been asked to leave and thats quite surprising because some of the refs are brutal.
 
Youngest is playing tonight - his first year at 11s, u13s.

the ref we have tonight sent two players off on Saturday, and reported the coaches on the touchline (who I have to say are the biggest pricks I've ever encountered in youth football) look forward to hearing about it
 
I remember about 4 years ago the abuse from the sidelines was getting noticably worse ,when i was coaching, and the point was raised at the agm where all coaches vowed to keep a lid on it. Cue of course the next monthly meeting the figures were shocking. Its a system of entitlement everywhere im afraid. Coaches getting screamed at by parents for either not playing their kid or any perceived injustice against their child. Im amazed so many refs still do it when the abuse is horrendous. Even some clubs you think as decent dish out awful abuse from the sidelines. Bonnyrigg and tranent i always found to be very hospitable in my time.
 
I read today that football for 5 and 6 year olds for fuck sake, affecting 750 kids in the central belt has been cancelled this weekend due to bad behaviour by parents.
 
Why are the refereeing standards poor today, mostly because at this grass roots is equally rank rotten, and that standard seeps towards the top.
 
Would you want to referee with folks behaviour on the sidelines. Its worse now than its ever been. Refs will never develop if they are scared to give decisions that might upset folk. Theres your problem.
 
How do you stop folk being arseholes. Good luck with that. We see it all around us in every facet of life. Id love to think that there could be a culture change but i only see folks behaviour getting worse tbh.
 
"Don't be a D_ck" is a concept that is alien to a massive section of society and is why we can't have nice things.

Too ill-educated, entitled and selfish and playing out their own failures on their kids so creating the next generation of pricks and so the cycle continues.
