Did Hibs say they couldn't afford the transfer fee?
I thought we were priced out of the "deal" - in other words we couldn't afford the % of his wages Genoa were after.
 
You can still pay fees for loans.
Pay fees upfront, can pay a monthly fee.

Just cause it's a loan, doesnt mean we werent priced out.
It's a loan with an option to buy as well, meaning they've agreed a future fee too.
All these things count.
 
They’re owned by Monaco so shouldn’t be surprised if they’re paying more towards his loan.

Probs in a minority but i’m no too fussed tbh,always felt he was given a bit leeway others wouldn’t get due to his personality....

He’s no better than we have now with Vela signing imo.

I'm no fussed either. We needed a player with strength more than his attributes.

It would have became him to fight for Mallans place also imo.

Totally agree...and thankfully I think the manager does as well as 6 out of the 7 players signed so far this summer have been on permanent deals.
I know some will disagree, but despite what Omeonga said in the media I don't think he ever had any intention of coming back to Hibs. Pity, because he was a good player for us in the last five months of last season. He drove the team forward and gave us back a bit of the energy and verve we lost when John McGinn left.
 
I was surprised when we got him, well done the recruitment team. Lets be honest he was never a realistic signing prospect.

We'll maybe be in that player pool sometime but not just now.

I said similar a while back. His energy, work rate and personality made him very likeable. But other than one excellent pass for McNulty, I didn’t think his passing or touch was all that impressive. I’d have taken him back, but I’m not worried he’s not.
 
Wonder if we are still after another midfielder ?
I think there will be a bit of wheeling and dealing in the next month or so.

This about sums up the hype about players abilities on forums.

He just signed for a team that finished 13th in fukn Belgium.

Now we got a result and decent performance tonight he’ll be back to being a zero that we never needed!!

If he was that decent we’d never have had a sniff in the first place and he’d have had a lot better offers than the guffies he just signed for.

Jokers.
 
Looks like the team he went to have an option to buy agreed with Genoa. That aside, he is contracted to the Italians until the Summer of 2022. We'll just have to get over losing him for good.
