Next Republic of Ireland manager Kenny Dalglish?

Ive kinda lost touch with the subject... whos names are in the hat at the moment? wasnt it gonna be houllier?

Saying in todays Irish media that Venables will be named by the weekend

Aye saw that...Was he not the guy who was the favorite right from the start?? Didnt think I would see Football association thats even more inept than ours :applause::applause::applause: I did see in the paper Laurie Sanchez & Billy Davies were getting an interview tomorrow though...

This would make a good motivational song at Croker for El Tels first game in charge.

Have heard that the three man panels recommendation was for El Tel but that certain members of the board simply won't accept that appointment. Heard about trapatoni but frankly whoever you get will be up against it.

Ireland could do a LOT better than Venables, leave him to retire and run a shitey pub in Benidorm if he doesnt have one already.
Trappatoni or Houlier would be a quality appointment

Bit like George Burley so, and most international managers

Seemingly houllier turned it down as he wanted brian kerr (our ex manager and not hibs midfield dynamo :smug:) to be on his backroom staff but was told no by the fai.

Theres about as much chance of that as your prediction of chelsea finishing above arsenal in the league:rollfloor

Seems it could be sorted today the fai have called a meeting for 6.30 tonight and it seems trapatonni is the man but has to tell them today if he wants it if not its venables, either way it looks like the manager will be in place for the brazil game on wednesday.

You happy with that?

The only 2 people who can get it IMO are Trappatoni or Venables.

Because of language and possible lack of knowledge of Irish football, i"b be happy with Trappatoni getting it if he had someone in the know as his assistant. THe word is the FAI are giving him the job, but also telling him Liam Brady will be his assistant. I'd be happy with that.

An all Italian staff would be a big no go for me, I'd prefer Venables over that

When I read a tip on Hibs.net about Davies I put 100 on him.

Then when SSN reprted Trap last week I put 100 on him.

So, I'm hoping it's one of them. Most people seem to agree it will probably be Trapattoni but there are a few people still saying Billy Davies has it.
Not sure if they're on the wind-up.

they're saying he's in Dublin now.

I'm skint so really need one of them to come in soon.

If I was an Ireland fan I think I would prefer a younger manager such as Davies.
He's not got international experience but I'm not sure how much that matters - I think the likes of Davies would bring more energy to it than Venables.

Young manager. No international experience. Sorry but we've already endured that with Steve Staunton and it made us the laughing stock of Europe

And Scotland did it with McLeish. Altjhough it was Smith that steadied the ship.
I see what you're saying though...you just can't tell how a manager will do from one club to another.

I'm not sure about Burley getting the Scotland job either though...

please God not dalglish, at this point one has to think its either el tel or trappatoni

Fingers crossed

I think he would do a better job than the big candidates - he may f off though if he dopes really well

The Billy Davis rumours are kicking in now
More than a rumour they are interviewing him, houghton said it on sky sports tonight while he was summarising the under21 game versus england.I cant see them going for someone young after the staunton debacle.

i know its off topic, but u21s didn't play terrible tonight. rought stretch of about 15 mins really
