Thought I'd see it mentioned here already.

Fifa have approved a trial change to the offside rule. It'll be tested in Sweden, Italy and the Netherlands to get us going.

A players whole body will need to be offside for it to be called an offside.

Brutal for defenders, but an interesting change.

Now players will be onside by millimeters instead of offside by them.
Defenders facing forwards while a player is running their shoulder are going to be blitzed. Teams are gonna start defending really deep.
If they don't, then I reckon we start seeing some big scorelines.
This is an attackers dream.

About time , I’ve been saying for ages , that if any part of your body is level , you are onside . Even more critical now we have var and people are getting judged offside by a toe and the likes. The rule has been for a long time that the attacker should get the benefit, but it barely works that way.
Football needs more goals , not less.
It certainly needs less pundits turning every goal into a blame fest for the defending team . These cnuts would have every game nil nil . Dragging their digital players about the screen , saying he should have went there, and done that blah blah blah
Does my nut in 🙈, can you tell 😂😂

Agree .
I think there should be daylight between the last defender and the attacker to be offside .

On var another thing that bugs me is it shouldn't take minutes to decide something it's meant to be there for obvious mistakes . Taking ages to decide is just looking for a reason to give pen/offside etc

I like the offside rule as it is. This is a game changer thats for sure.

I'd always thought it should be the shoulder or something like that
It's the same idea.

But the attacker's heel compared to the last defender's head, potentially at opposite sides of the 18yd box? VAR-tastic!

I agree. Needs to be sensible.

I mind Patrick Banford was called offside when he pointed where he wanted the ball, and his hand was offside. Madness.

A hand can't be offside so that's just the officials making a c**t of the decision. Changing rules won't change that unfortunately.

Thank goodness for common sense. It was ludicrous that a player could be offside because a fraction of a toe was in front of the defender.
