makalamby- young and inexperienced, has some talent and could go on to be a good keeper for hibs.needs time.

gathuessi- ERRATIC-awful defending at times,no sense of danger and capable of throwing a goal away anytime.not good enough.

joneleit-WHY?? german under 21 player but cant get a game for us,masterstroke by collins.waste of the lads time.

curier-like a fish up a tree!! poor poor signing,no composure.not good enough.

donaldson-has pace but little else, the step from york city to hibs way too big for the lad, struggling the last few weeks without fletcher. needs time in the reserves.

kerr- doesnt do enough for me! pretty passing, sideways and backwards no thrust to his game and never wins a tackle.poor signing.

o`brien- had a terrible season so far,but looks like he could be a player??
desperately needs a manager who can get the best out of him, collins brought him in and didnt play him. needs games!!

nouboussie-still early for him, looks like he is up for a tackle but not great in possession, needs to be given a chance, but early signs, not good enough.

morais- looks decent at times, but a flair player needs to be scoring goals and supplying goals, doesnt do enough of these. would give the lad more games and lets see if he steps upto the plate??

would like to hear others opinions on our new players?? as a whole the signings have been of a poor standard and the legacy collins has left the new manager will take serious wheeling and dealing in the transfer market
to rectify.

This guy should be outstanding - he finds space and screams for the ball but we're too busy playing passball in the centre to notice the greyhound unmarked on the wing. his final ball yesterday was top drawer - just bugger all up front to capitalise on it.

As for Donaldson - lets just get rid - he's not good enough. Curier at least has heart and a good right boot.

Time to get slated now and point out that Collins didn't sign all the ones not fulfilling potential..... Deano needs to get out of McDonalds and into a health food shop. To be a pro he needs to be eating and training like one, he was blowing out his arse yesterday after 40 minutes and just looks unfit. Fix that and he'd be awesome.

agree with that bud, fitness not great.

Ma Kalambay - has ability but is inexperienced

Gathuessi - very good going forward, very dodgy at the back

Joneliet - impossible to really comment! pointless signing

Kerr - decent player, not spectacular

Noubissie - looks strong in the tackle, just what we need in midfield

Morais - probably JCs best signing IMO

O'Brien - looks to have the skill, just no confidence

Antoine-Curier - tries hard, just isn't good enough

Donaldson - has made a massive step-up, and it shows. May come good given time

Konte Mark 2 (scored against Queen of the South, cani mind his name!) - oh dear! the warning signs were there, maybe Petrie was right to give Collins no money!

Makalamby: We needed a proven goalkeeper after the disaster of Mowbray's goalkeeper signings. We didn't get one. However Yves could still develop into a very good keeper in time, which we do not have. We still need a proven goalkeeper, and I think the new manager will bring in a goalkeeper in the summer, I also think he will ditch Marshall who was brought in by Mowbray as an old pals act, but has proved a disaster as a goalkeeper coach.

Ghattuessi: Strong going forward, and quite dangerous as he has a fair turn of pace. Poor defensively though, and that is the prime job as a right-back. If he stays I can see the new manager trying to possibly convert him into a right-sided attacking midfielder.

Joneleit: Have hardly seen him play. I think he will be punted back to Monaco in January if the new boss can get in another central defender for cover. If Jones goes as well, he will need to bring in two central defenders or promote one of the reserves.

Kerr: Too slow to play in the Hibs team. He does his best but this was another Tommy Craig inspired signing which has not worked. Another one who will likely be made available for transfer in the summer, although that might be difficult as he is on a long contract I believe.

Donaldson: Too big a jump from the Conference League to the SPL, although I still think this lad has talent which just needs to be nurtured properly. He needs a run of games in the reserves as he is not ready yet for regular first team football.

Morais: A tricky wee player with not much end product so far. Again though I feel with some better coaching he could develop into a decent player for us. I think we need a better option on the right wing though. As I said earlier I wouldn't be against trying Ghattuessi in the right midfield attacking slot.

O'Brien: He is a good player IMO, but limited in his overall game. He gets too much stick from the fans too many of whom are trying to compare him to Ivan Sproule. He has not had a decent run of games so far this season, but when the new manager comes in I expect him to show us more. He has terrific pace and can cross the ball well, but we have to find a way of using his talent to it's best.

Curier: A panic signing at the last minute. I'm sure Collins would have preferred a more established and proven front man to lead the line but for whatever reason he couldn't get one. He is only at ER till the summer when I am sure the new boss will empty him.

In summary, a number of Collins signings have potential but are not ready to be playing regular SPL first team football IMO, whilst some are not good enough and will likely be made available for transfer in the summer or in January. I also feel far too much is being asked of youngsters like Ross Chisholm and Kevin McCann , both of who have some promise but should still be playing reserve football. Louis Stevenson is ready for first team football, but is an attacking left-sided player and nothing else, certainly not a full-back.

The new manager must bring in three or four experienced players for the spine of his team in the summer, and he must be given resources to do this. I would imagine there will be a bit of a clear-out at the end of the season as well to free-up wages , but we are going to have to re-build from scratch i'm afraid. The back four and the goalkeeper has to be a priority, build from the back like all successful teams do.

This season is a patch-up job in January. I hope we can keep Jones till the summer, but I would drop Boozy altogether if he signs a pre-contract with anyone, in fact I would drop any player who signs a pre-contract with another club. The new boss will have a big job on his hands. I just hope he gets the backing from the board and the patience and support of the fans.

I'm not wanting to ignore the rest of your post, but to me this is the most salient point. The players we sign are ones who have a decent amount of potential to develop. We don't sign established players. My suspicion is that this is a policy of the board so that there is some potential sell on value for anyone we sign. I find it pretty surprising to say the least that when every single fan I speak to says we need an older head that it would be something which no manager we have had thinks. It would seem more than a bit of a coincidence that our last two managers have barely signed anyone older than 25, and the bulk of their signings have been players in their late teens or early 20s.

As a strategy for saving and potentially making money, that makes sense. Young players will generally not be looking to be on the top of the wage scale as older experienced players would. From a football point of view which is all about getting as strong a team as possible on the park, it is much less effective. Don't get me wrong, with the wages we pay I do not think we would be signing any superstars with a bit of experience. What we would be buying would be someone who has an established expected level of performance and the ability to help along the young players who will make up the bulk of his teammates.

Mowbray in particular seemed to revel in signing loads of players who might make it, but who for the most part wouldn't, and he undoubtedly had an eye for it. Not too much of a gamble to pay Sam Morrow a few quid a week when you are paying David Murphy the same. However, Collins did not have the same fallback as Mowbray of having a squad stacked with talented young players brought through the ranks to supplement. It was JCs job to sell those players. Collins had to do his own blooding of young players and if anyone looks at the way our youths who came into the side have developed they'll see a gap of a few years between the likes of Whittaker and Stevenson. The only one who Mowbray really got through the ranks was Fletcher, and he was pretty close to ready for first team football at the point where Mowbray came in so it wasn't exactly the biggest of gambles. Collins came in and gave chances to Stevenson, McCann, Chisholm, Lynch, McNeil, Gray, McCormack, and Campbell.

How out of date are you :coffee:

Where IS Antonio Murray? :giggle:

Was last at Histon in the Blue Square Premier League (the Conference to you and me).

Taken from the Histon FC web-site

"10 - Antonio Murray - Forward

The ex-Ipswich Town player joined Histon from Hibernian and last season demonstrated he has great potential to become one of the League’s outstanding goal scorers. His 16 goals last season helped Histon to the Nationwide South Title.

Date of Birth: 15th September 1984
Height: 5'9''

Clubs: Ipswich Town, Hibernian"

The only ones of JC's signings that look like they have the potential to be good enough are Maka and Morais. Hopefully AOB will prove his doubters wrong. I think a new manager will come in and clear out players like Kerr, Donaldson and Gattheussi. Not really seen much of Noubissie but his passing was abysmal yesterday.

All average but with the ability to come good with the right nurturing and managing.

They have all been flavour of the month and duds of the month at some point in their short careers. Just now they are all Dud's of the month. :hmmm

Makalamby: Decent, sometimes a bit shaky, but a big improvement on our recent keepers..

Ghattuessi: Awful. Worst defender in the league that i can think of. Not bad going forward though.

Joneleit: Feel sorry for him, we've wasted his time.

Kerr: Decent, although he's had some very poor games.

Donaldson: Got pace, that's about it.

Morais: Looked good until it's came to his final ball. Decent signing, needs to work on his crossing and shooting though.

O'Brien: Much better than people give him credit for IMO, great delivery, electric pace, but needs to try and get involved more. Would also help if the rest of the team didn't seem so reluctant to pass to him..

Curier: A trier, that's about it though. Better option than Donaldson though IMO.

maka - Has the potential to be good with the right coaching. He should be murdering strikers when he comes for crosses, he is MASSIVE!!!! Grade B

gatheussi - good going forward, bomb scare defensively, Grade C

Joneleith - ???????

Kerr - Decent, is never gonna be a flair player but he works hard, recent performances have improved. Grade B (cos he scored the winner at PBS)

Noubissie - Spoiler, something we have lacked since Rocky, timewill tell if he can cut it. Grade C-

O'Brien - Great pace and potential if we play him right! get him running in behind and play the ball to him, he can deliver some great balls in to the box. Grade B-

Curier - Works his socks of 99% of the time but is never gonna be an out and out goalscorer. Grade B

Donaldson - No touch, movement, skill, composure I could go on. He is not good enough. Grade D

Morais - By far Collins best Signing. Grade B+
