Everything I read seems to be pure hatred towards them.

I love their latest album.

Just instinctively like the music.

So shoot me.

They are getting a lot of air time here in California, doing really well, sell out concerts. Not my cup of tea but they are alright I suppose.

Haruki you seem to have a habit of liking extremely popular music artists, pretending no one else likes them, then in turn thinking this makes you a maverick.

Case in point, you making an identical thread to this a few months back saying you were one of the lone brave wolves who liked multi-Grammy winning, platinum selling, multiple #1 , record-breaking artist Adele.

I realy like them. Got both albums and seen them at Rockness. Brilliant live

It was a splendidly executed put down man. No denying it. I was laughing at that rather than you.

Nah, man. I've been working every weekend I don't have the kids, and some. That was on a be-kidded weekend. And I lost yer email too, can you PM me it, please?

Yes, it was fair. As I'm sure you're aware, I post some drunken p'sh, especially about music, and am not the type to cry when pulled up. 'tis only the internet. And am self aware enough to know the levels of pish I spout. Even though I'm usually right

Didn't make it either. My mate's 40th got pulled in a week due to off-shore duties so didn't even take the wee man down. He was at the final that Wick Academy were in so wouldn't have come anyway.

I didn't send you an e-mail though. I texted Mikey my e-mail address to give to you but didn't hear anything. Next time maybe, we'll see how it goes.

Mumfords rule though. The cognitive dissonance of mine is that popular music is often decried here. My point was valid. Probably. Can't remember what my point was tbh. I'm sure it was valid though. Maybe.

Well fish in a barrel etc.

Naw, really, they are a funny lot the old M&S. Not marks and sparks obv.

Friend gave me a couple of cds of theirs recently and eventually had a listen. Here's what I will be telling him doon ra pub next week:

* Production sound: quite enclosed, no reverb/echo, up front vocals in your face

* Vocalist leads quite literally; got the feeling the accompaniement was just colour (not a bad thing per se). Guessing he writes all the stuff (except covers)

* Songs not bound to the usual poppy intro/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/mid8/instrumental/verse/chorus ad nauseam...

* Vocalist imposes his own phrasing a la Sinatra - it could go anywhere once the band instrumentalists shut up

* Warm vocals, nice voice

Final summary: just that side of too individually phrased to suit my song-liking sensibilities, but I always have been a sucker for a good hook that needs repeating a few times to suck you in. This singer just verges off on his own path a bit too much for me.

Interesting though and quite whimsical. I see why some thought it was an old sixties group or summat; sounds like that the name. But Steptoe and Son it ain't :burnout:

"Good luck with it mate, and here's your cds back", I'll be saying next week...

Yep, I meant I'd lost yer email due to the Bounce Timewarp. I should have got off my arse and mailed you before then!

I'll check them out although it's not sounding good ;)
