Think Strachen is in big trouble, 3-0 down at halftime against watford. Another coat on a shoogly peg I think!

Definitely another manager in deep, doggy doo. Can't understand why they were made Championship favourites to be honest but they were. High expectations. Maybe too high. I think he deserves a bit more time to turn it around as he's brought a lot of players in. The fact that so many were from Scotland will not help win him a lot more time I fear.

Was purely down to money spent and number of new players brought in.

Jimmy Nicholl at Millwall and Tommy Burns at Reading both took a stack of SPL players down south that weren't up to it at Championship level and neither of those two lasted very long.

Strap-on will make it the hat-trick shortly.

Aye, I think they did spend more than most although I don't think it was exactly multi-million pound players. More the number of new players. I remember wondering at the start of the season why they were being favourites when many of these players were clearly gambles. Robson has actually been one of their best signings while Thomson still has a lot to prove and Boyd so far a big letdown for them. Surprised to see see the young lad Halliday getting so many games already. I hope he does okay and was not one of those responsible for such as bad result again today. Mind you, Watford are flying at the moment. Who would've believed it under Malky McKay! Shaping up to be a better maneger than Strachan down there at the moment although it's early days of course.

When I was writing my previous post on this I was also thinking about Jimmy Nicholl down at Millwall. He got dog's abuse about the Scots even though I think there were only about 3 of them - certainly less than Strachan has bought.

Just shows how shite the SPL is when the top SPL players like McDonald,Robson,Thomson and Boyd are all struggling against mid table championship teams.

very good point. which is why i would like the old firm to leave the spl and be a laughing stock in the low divisions of england

On on the other side of the coin - Ross McCormack was banging in the goals for Cardiff - apart from this season. Chris Burke has done very well down there and so has the likes of Cowie at Watford. You have Dorrans at West Brom, Hoolahan at Norwich and Snodgrass at Leeds as well. Last year, Charlie Adam was a stick out in the Championship.

Has Robson seriously done that bad? Most reports I read or hear on the tele, he is about the only name that consistently gets pass marks.

McDonald and Boyd would get about 5 or 6 chances per game playing for the old firm. At Boro they are probably lucky to get 2. Although the SPL isnie great, it certainly isnie as shite as people make out and isnie shite just because Boyd hasnie scored 20 goals so far for Boro.

Robson is probably their most consistent player and a big favourite with Boro fans I know. In short, he has been a bargain.

Yeah, i agree with your main point. There are just as many examples of players who have done better down there than might've been expected. Dorrans didn't even come from the SPL and Andy Halliday is another ex Livy player who seems to be getting a few starts for Boro even though he's barely 20 yet. There are plenty of former SPL players who were nothing special and are now holding down regular places in Championship sides.
