I think it’s not the right move for him but this caught my eye: no idea if it’s true:

Hibs would get 15 percent of the transfer fee should he leave Villa Park, with the Paisley side picking up 30 percent of the Hibees' windfall.

That could be £5M in the coffers 😎

Where ‘s this from ?

Apparently a transfer they've got planned for the summer.
Won't be this month.

Heard it for a year and a half though, won't hold my breath 🥺

Deserves a bigger club though, wonderful player with an unmatched workmate and desire to get torn about *&*^.

Love the wee guy, absolutely love him.

This pops up nearly every transfer window. I think a Liverpool or Man City would be a good fit. He's shown he can adapt very quickly. Man U not a disaster if it happens but probably unlikely to win much trophy wise.

I was reading a thread on Twitter with Manure fans complaining that he isn't good enough for them. Obviously roasters to a man.

Definitely the opposite. They'd be lucky to have him.

Interesting career paths for McGinn and Andrew Robertson. Available for virtually nothing around the age of 20, and no massive queues of clubs desperate to take them.

Their time is gone , Ferguson just lucky all the brats came through at the same time . Downward spiral these days🤪👍

Complaining he isn’t good enough, ffs , bet they all think they got a bargain with harry maguire then :loopy:

I'd love John to go to Utd, great for Hibs and I like Utd. But there is an argument to be made he's not the type of midfielder they need. He's all action, 100% committed and a clear upgrade on Fred and McTominay, but he can't dictate the pace of a game like Dylan used to do for Hibs. That what utd need, Dylan McGeogh!

I know loads of ST holders at OT who would love McGinn to play for United, I personally cannot see anything being done until the summer and that’s if the new Manager wants him also.

I thought Dylan was the real heartbeat player of that side, the Messi of the team. The career trajectory since would suggest maybe not.

Man Utd buy players with no real obvious purpose, clubs like City and Liverpool build squads. Utd have wasted a fortune on shite.

Signing players because they need to be seen signing someone.

Ronaldo was never a good idea, doing everything to hold on to Pogba is a bad idea, Cavani was a good idea but do nothing to compliment him.

Martial was highly rated for a season so they spunked on him.
Maguire ffs 🤣

Exactly! Can add Fred, Di Maria, van de Beek and Depay to that list of shockers.

Fred hasn’t lived up to all the hype, I’ll add Maguire to that list to, Van Dee Beek never got a chance under Ole, he was a great player for Ajax though, Depay was a great player at PSV but it never worked out at OT for him either, Di Maria wasn’t consistent enough yet look at him at PSG.

Aye exactly. That’s the point I was trying to make that they sign players, good players, without any plan or strategy as to how they fit into the team. van de Beek is all about one touch pass and move stuff, Utd don’t play that way.

Man City sign players who seamlessly slot into the team. Not all of them are necessarily better individuals that what Utd have signed, but they are better suited to the City style of play.

Suppose that's the difference with having a Pep or Klopp in charge, folk who know absolutely what they want and work to better that goal.

Like you mentioned above.

Genuine team building.

Aye for sure, but it’s the guys above them as well. Those clubs both have a Sporting Director who builds a team in line with what the manager wants, there’s a clear and aligned approach. Man Utd are scattergun in everything they do.

Man U would be a great move for John McGinn...going to one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Hope it happens...and for as much money as possible.

John McGinn could more than hold his own at Man U but I unless they have a clear out I wouldn’t want him going there.

They are absolutely honking just now, no structure, no fight and they play as a team of self inflated individuals.

It would be good for Hibs to get the cash but I would hate for SJM to suffer by being dropped into the current mediocrity at Man U.

On the other hand, I would love see him at Liverpool or Spurs. I think he would really suit both teams styles of football.

I Find Man U boring boring boring But agree an upgrade on anything they have at the moment including that ego driven bell piece Pogba ( can’t stand him )

I think the other clubs simply decided to up their game, money wise.
City, Chelsea and Liverpool pushed the boat out and it paid off.
Chelsea started spending absolute fortunes from 2003 onwards and it got them a couple of titles, Ferguson rebuilt the Man utd team and won from 2007-09 and beat Chelsea in champions League final too. Man city started spending fortunes and won the League 2012 again he came back and won the League before retiring. That's not too say man Yoo didn't spend a shit load too they started whinging when other teams outspent them but it was different around 2001 ( ish) when they spent about £80m one pre season on Veron, Ferdinand and Van nistelrooy. The equivalent of that today is probably £300m in English premier League Money
