May signs for the sheep

I think that it's going to be quite a battle for 2nd. Us, sevco and the sheep imho

If he stays fit he should be a good signing.
He has however been plagued by injury over the last two or three years and has hardly played.

I hope so, but also I hope we aren't getting too carried away. Aberdeen did not do great in Europe, but nether did sevco, but the Dunfy game put a different complex on things. Also the fact, like it or not, they are getting sell out games so the January window could see more signings. But also Hearts can easily turn the heat up depending on who they appoint and how he motivates the team. Other teams in the league are also well capable of grabbing points as we sat away to Ross county.

That said we do have the looks of a very strong squad and very good manager

Decent signing for them but he's plagued by injuries, he's only made 12 appearances in 2 years with only 1 goal

Wouldn't drop either. Would be a direct replacement for Graham, albeit a very good replacement.

Exactly..we need four strikers in our squad all competing for starting places. It's a long, long season ahead and we have to be prepared for injuries and suspensions. Rooney would be a fantastic signing but I really doubt whether (a) Aberdeen would be willing to let him go to a rival club and (b) whether Rooney himself would be willing to come to Hibs for more or less the same wages and where he would not be any more guaranteed a starting spot than he would be at Aberdeen. I definately see Lennon bringing someone in though to replace Graham.

Too many folk seem to give Aberdeen the wild dick flute solo. They had 4 years sans Huns and they won a League Cup. Club of bottle merchants.

Correct. Can't stick a second place finish in your trophy cabinet. Well you could, but it'd be a bit weird. Would take our last ~ 10 years over theirs every day of the week and we've been pish for nearly half of them.

On paper they look to be putting together a team that means business this coming season at least. If we start writing off any clubs in this league we're likely to come down with a bump. Let's leave the delusional self confidence to the Gunts

Yip. I think the games against them will be belters. Lots of good players all over the park. For both teams.

No delusional self confidence from me. Aberdeen historically, recently at least, tend to choke the big games..."rangers it". Low turn out from their magnificent support at our recent semi, put that down to a fair few expecting to lose. (I can name 5 mates who didn't go for that very reason). They lost a Scottish Cup final v Inverness. If we done that it'd be Hibottle all over the media.

The point I'm making is that this season they are an unknown quantity (much like everyone else at this stage including Hibs) and dissing any team as bottlers is setting us up for a big slice of humble pie if we get horsed by said 'bottlers.' So, as Winston Wolf once said, "Let's not start sucking each others dicks just yet"

They do tend to beat us anyway. Which is nippy as feck. Still, we won the Scottish Cup. :applause:

McGinn, Hayes and Jack have gone. Taylor too.Rooney seems to have been pushed sideways.

Are the replacements better?

Tansey? Much like Jack.
Arneson ? Decent player, but in his 35th year.
May? Good player, but as already pointed out, hasn't played much in the last couple of seasons.
Christie? Very good player, but he's celtics man.
Maynard? Don't know much about him, so won't slate his signing.
GMS? Potentially the best signing.

They've had a decent 5 year spell, but it could be the end of it as the guys who gave them the edge have moved on.

But we'll see.

Clubs dont always need 4 main strikers these days the way teams are set up. Celtic and the Hun have 3 through the middle strikers backed up by goal scoring wide players.

We have Murray, Stokes & Davy. With Swanson and Boyle who come in from the flanks to score. Shaw is there too as temp cover and on bench. Lennon will be happy with those 6. Plenty of variations and permutations up front possible.
