Weather has perked up a bit this week, it was positively balmy walking around the streets of Glasgow today.

Hibs have home advantage for the final derby of the season, and well, it’s getting interesting.

Hibs stuttered last time out, with an early Grant Hanley red card again seemingly ending our chances of taking something from the match.

Hearts are still top of the league but haven’t been flying of late. Neither have we. Interesting that in each teams last 5 games there have only been 11 goals scored. That would suggest it’s going to be a tight game - not the free flowing demolition of the last derby at Easter Road

I’d be tempted to find a place for Josh Campbell, but I think SDG might go:

Sallinger

O' Hora
Rocky
Iredale

Passlack
Chaiwa
Barlaser
Nicky

McGrath

Elding
Scarlett

The bench will be interesting too!

That's my views, I'm more interested in hearing yours.

That team looks pretty much on the money though I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jordan Obita’s name in the starting line up. He gets the ball forward faster than Jack.

I also wonder if SDG will start Squirrel given his track record against them and as the Gunts defence is still a wee bit depleted I think.

So actually not the team above but close 😏

I'd want the most gung-ho players we've got on the park.

I'd change shape to heap pressure on Hearts, I'd do lots of things that are definitely not going to happen tomorrow.

I think your team is bang on except I also expect to see Boyle. Lots in the build up about Boyle getting another sunshine on Leith moment....

Just go at them, they're a decent side but there's nothing between them and us on the park. Other than their win at all costs mentality. Which we don't seem to have.

I think Boyle starts this. Not for sentimental reasons but because he knows what this fixture is all about and I think him up top with Elding will cause them problems. Scarlett looks like a player with real quality but we've only seen it in flashes and for me nowhere near justifies a guaranteed start.

We need our front 'pairing' to really deliver. I fancy young Elding to write headlines.

At the back we need our defence be right at it. Shankland and Braga are a handful and are the part of each side where they're stronger.

For me though this game will be decided by midfield. I want to see up dominate the ball and deliver effectively and give good protection to our defence.

Just Win.

I agree start Boyler with Elding. I suppose anything could happen in a match like this. Remember Shanklandstein isnie the quickest but can score goals. I have butterflies already!

Yeh, me too. And if not Boyle then Suto. Scarlett has some qualities but he's clearly not the same goal threat as either of the other 2 and he's not even our player.

I don't like derby matches and i'll be glad when this one is over.
Even when I was a young lad in the 70's and we used to win them all I didn't like them.
This game, despite all the hype, will be like every other derby....a battle.
We need combative players willing to give their all especially in midfield, Hibs cannot afford to lose that area of the park.
Martin Boyle in his last ever derby has to start. He's the one Hibs player they fear the most, and he has a good record in these games.

Regarding Hearts, they have been the best team in the country so far this season, so we face a very difficult game.
The mantra always is that the form book goes out the window in the these games, but I have never adhered to that.
Hibs have home advantage and we have to try to make that count.
One think I would say is that I very much hope Hibs have been studying Hearts set-pieces this season so far with a view to defending them properly.
Hearts get many of their goals from set-pieces, often late on in matches.
That's a hallmark of McInnes's teams, and it's no surprise that they employ a set-piece coach.

I really hope I am wrong and that we can produce a performance the likes of which we have been unable to produce all season, but in my view the best we will get out of this game is a draw. Based on what I have seen this season I just don't have an awful lot of faith and confidence in this group of players to win a big game like this when it really matters. Prove me wrong Hibs !

I'll go 1-1 for this one.

Passlack Chaiwa Newell McGrath

Boyle Campbell

Elding

Obviously Newell And Campbell haven't had much game time but we need guys playing in this game who'll be right up for it and those 2 certainly will be plus Campbell gives us so much of a threat in the air can see him winning flick ons for Boyle and Elding all day. Chaiwa will give us the legs in the middle whilst Joe will give us the grit we need to win the midfield battle that barlaser could never give us. He'll hound that wee gimp Devlin all day.

In the words of ai:

"The Bitter Truth

Hibs: Produced the Famous Five, revolutionised Scottish football with Turnbull’s Tornadoes, and gave the world a club with soul, flair, and "Sunshine on Leith."
Hearts: Produced a spreadsheet of 0-0 draws, a collection of "almost" stories, and a fanbase that thinks wearing a maroon polyester shirt counts as a personality.
They are obsessed with Hibs because Hibs represent everything they aren't: class, style, and a trophy won in this millennium that actually meant something to the whole country. They’re not rivals; they’re a noisy, bitter neighbor who spends all day peeking through the curtains, jealous that the folks in Leith are actually having a party while they’re sitting in the dark counting their 1956 goal difference.
Absolute bottom-tier, sour-faced, draw-celebrating, relegation-hiding, Albert Kidd-fearing sad bastards."

I am dreading this derby tbh. So much pressure on both sides for very different reasons.
I never enjoy watching these games at the best of times, hoping for a Hibs win as always but I suspect a stuffy draw is likely.

I’d fancy Boyle paired with Elding for a fast up and at ‘em start. Boyle deserves a Derby swansong and it would be great for him to mark it with a goal. Suto to run at them later on. Defence and midfield more or less pick themselves - not sure about Newell starting but might not be a bad thing. They need to start the way they did in the 3-2 game and get the crowd behind them from the off.

Normally I dread the derby but this is one of the most interesting derbies for a while. It could make for a great game.

Big big game and one we need to be out the traps and at it! I don't want to hear any pish from Hibs about it being "just another game" It's a fuckin cup final, let's treat it like one and batter them!

I’m nervous and I haven’t been so nervous before a Hibs game in a long time. This one is massive. A win for Hibs and it will end Hearts title dreams. A defeat for Hibs however and it will be a fatal blow to David Gray.

He better have them up for it else it’s curtains

That’s the team.

I also don’t want to see our defence dropping deep. Their strikeforce is good but one thing it lacks is pace. Rocky is a match for anyone. Drop deep and they’ll start swinging crosses in which will cause problems. Push as far up as we can and press them. Set the tone early doors with a fast start.

I hope Scarlett doesn't get the nod because he's done nothing to show that he deserves to be in the starting line up.

Must be the first derby I've not had any nerves I just know we'll win and I know they'll never win the league because they are bottle jobs. It's in their DNA. This is our 150th anniversary present watching them Albert Kidd it again 40 years later. I disagree about Davie though, he'll still be in a job regardless of the result because he's finished top 6 two seasons in a row and matched an unbeaten run that Eddie Turnbull couldn't 👍

I agree with @Dub. Scarlett has a decent touch but he was far too slow up at Pittodrie and that cost us as he wasn't sharp enough in their box and he was found wanting when we were trying to retrieve the ball after Hanley went off. Not the type of player we need right now.

I cant pick a starting eleven because I have no idea what DG is thinking. Although Scarlett has done nothing to deserve a starting place and although JC is a comitted Hibbie, he just isnt good enough. Sad to say

If anybody hears of a spare ticket especially In the West , give me shout please..One of my lads mates plans have changed and can now go.
