"Things are only impossible until they're not."

Jean-Luc Picard

Hibs head to Pittodrie on Saturday for the tea time telly kick off against Aberdeen. The mood has shifted significantly since last Sunday, after a quite stunning result and performance.

I was pitch level, so I didn't get a good view of the formation tweaks and tactical changes. Can't say I was even sure the goals went in at the time, and that was before the painful wait to see if VAR would allow them. They counted though, and we're through to the league cup final for the first time since 2021 when we nearly surprised Celtic. Before then we have a number of important games, and it would be great if we can get some points together.

Aberdeen are coming off a bit of a downer, they held Rangers up until the final moments of their semi final. They're not having a good league campaign and sit 3 points above Hibs. A two goal Hibs win would take us above them. Having changed manager this year, they are in a bit of a quandary, you can't just keep firing managers and hope for someone to get it right.

Their best performers this season have curiously been Chris Cadden, although he missed last week and another ex-hibby Kevin Nisbet. Nisbet has chalked up 13 goals and 4 assists in 18 games this season his best return for quite some time. For contrast Hibs top scorers this season are Elding and Boyle with 5 apiece.

What kind of set up can we expect from Hibs, I'd guess we'll largely be the same as the lineup for the semi final:

I say largely, because I think Marink will make a tweak or two, now he's getting to know the players and their strengths and weaknesses.

Sunday was magic, really magic. Looking forward to seeing what this Saturday brings.

That's my views, I'm more interested in hearing yours.

IMO it will be pretty much the same team as last Sunday, injuries notwithstanding.
Winning the derby semi final at Hampden got that monkey off our backs, but we now face an altogether bigger challenge.
Hibs desperately need points and we have to start climbing that league now.
The Dons away is always hard going, and they are a bit like us in that they find goals very hard to come by.
They do tend to get a lot of breaks at home, with homer referees the norm, and they hate a penalty.
Would be great to get a win up there, and Hibs are better on the road than they are at Easter Road, so i'm going for 2-1 Hibs.

Not sure Cadden (of the Chris variety) has been one of Aberdeen's best performers. He's received most of the criticism from fans. If fit he'll play though as they don't have many options there.

Man for man believe Hibs are a far better team than Aberdeen, whose squad building in summer has been horrendous. Aberdeen have lost four from five now, and that includes defeats at home to St Johnstone and Falkirk. A very winnable game for Hibs.

Every time we've sacked a manager, Robinson's name has been floated as a potential name in the dugout. But he is really struggling at Pittodrie. I'm surprised as thought he'd be doing a lot better, but he's making all the same mistakes he made at St Mirren last season. He's in a flux he can't get out of at the moment.

Thx for the preview, liked the info on the strikers, interesting.

Will be happy to see a draw in this one in a tough location and shíte hibs away 'corner' in the wind.

That's IF he makes the odd tweak or keeps same LC formation. Too many changes not required.

Re the strikers again, hoping for but not at all sure of better ROI.

Don’t change a winning team is the old saying 👍 , I reckon he’ll go with the starting eleven from Sunday , unless anyone picked up a knock. I haven’t seen any reports of injuries . It would be great to start climbing up the table now.

I hope, now we have the monkey off our back, we play with a bit more confidence than we have shown this season and kick on and go on a winning streak.
Marink has taken 2 or 3 games to turn a poor Hibs intae a decent Hibs and I think taking the captaincy away from Newell and Boyle has took the pressure off our 2 “oldies” and that’s showing in their performances.
Now if we can get Josh back tae last season’s Josh, there has been a slight improvement, we will kick on up the table.
MON THE CABBAGE!

After the euphoria of the semi it's back to the grind and hopefully points on the board. Can the players show the same level of commitment, skill and will to win?
Course they can, we have a motivator in charge.
The motivation should not be a problem. They have a cup final coming up, so each and every one of them will want to play in that. Don’t try and you’ll be dropped.

Mayor hamstring injury.
Hanley been ignoring an issue with his thumb and has had to be operated on.
