Deserves a thread on his own.

Been fantastic for us and the feelings been mutual according to his interview.
He owes us nothing, but I’d definitely try get him signed for another year.

He's been a great servant for us. Can't mind what seasons it was but he was unplayable through them and it was his peak and we were lucky to witness that. How Scotland let him go is shocking from the folk in charge. I'd be happy with him staying another year but ultimately it's down to him.

He goes with my best wishes.

It's not down to him though.
Hibs haven't offered a contract.

A poor decision I think, but time will tell.

He sure has.

Might be asking for to much or to long in his contract. Nobody knows for sure. I'd imagine theres been some talks if brief.

A great Hibs player who we will do very well to replace properly.

I well remember the day he signed for Hibs on loan from Dundee with the unfortunate Alex Harris going the other way.
It was announced on a Saturday morning and he made his debut that afternoon...right away you could see he was very fast, but little did we know we were looking at someone who was to become a modern day Hibs legend. A permanent deal was inevitable.

I get the feeling there is something going on behind the scenes at Hibs...there is no way David Gray would want to lose such a talismanic player, and the most feared Hibs player by opposition teams.

We might no have Deeks and Keef Keef Keef anymore but Boyler more often than not comes up with that wee extra bit of skill or speed to score on a regular basis for us.

I would love one more season off him but perhaps him and his missus have other places to be (not tobe, @Ryan69 !), is that it?

Will be missed if/when he goes 😢

Unless he is determined to leave we should be trying to keep him. He is easily the best striker we currently have on the books..In my opinion Suto and Klidje couldnt lace his boots for skill, awareness work rate and his love of the club yet these two will be at the club next season and Boyle wont. It makes no sense

11 goals in 46 games this season, no tenable for your main forward unfortunately.

Maybe could have negotiated a reduced contract for an impact squad player, but maybe it’s better this way.

None of that detracts from the outstanding service to Hibs, he’s a legend. The last remaining player from 2016 to leave.

A sad day, but Martin it’s been a pleasure.

He’s still the man we turn to and is still our most dangerous player.

We should be keeping him if he wants to stay.

That’s the only good thing about today at Easter Road , does that mean his Mrs will be staying here for another season too ?

Best bit of Hibs news today. I didn't know until I got home after the game!
I just found out now.
Hopefully get some decent players tae complement him.
Apparently today’s team were sadly lacking effort according tae what I’ve read on here.

I think that Boyle getting a one year contract is good news. He is very much in the twilight of his career but he’s still capable of making a great contribution to the club, always seems to at least try even under the most terrible conditions, carries enough threat to make defenses worry and can still score a few goals. Well worth it I think.

Anyone else a bit confused about all this ?
The club announced a couple of months ago that Martin Boyle was definitely leaving at the end of the season.
Gray is constantly being asked about it and he praises Boyle's contribution on and off the park...then tells the media for weeks that the club would be giving him a great sen off., one which he deserves. It's strongly rumoured that Hibs did not even offer him a new contract.
Then lo and behold it's announced before the last game of the season he has signed new one year contract.
Can't quite work out what's happened here ? Anyone any thoughts ?

It could be that club, player or player’s agent couldn’t agree terms and reached a point where one of the parties dug their heels in and it was agreed that Boyle would move on. Maybe Boyle decided he didn’t relish the upheaval of moving and kept the door open for compromise. One of these occasions where you never say never. Do you think it is something more sinister?

Aberdeen.

The common thought was a happy ever after retirement to Australia and everyone was happy.

Then apparently Aberdeen were sniffing. If that happened it would be disaster PR for Hibs ... and Martin Boyle!
