He's been gash as a manager for years now. With his experience in the game number two makes sense, he and Strachan go back many years, this will hopefully suit him and the National team.

Not as mesmerised as the Airdrie fans when Kenny Black got his Scotland gig. He relegated them twice!

I actually agree with you. He`s definately an improvement over that useless prick.

Far too much importance I feel is put on an assistant manager by many fans and the media. He is almost always a mate of the manager, and someone he has either worked with or played with before. They have to get along and the manager has to feel that he can trust him to carry out instructions. McGhee is far from my favourite guy in football, but he has a wealth of experience and has known Strachan for many years since their Aberdeen days. Taking all that into account I think he is a decent choice.
