Marink Reedijk Appointed Manager of Hibernian FC

Charleston are of a standard somewhere near the bottom of the full time teams in Scotland.

We seem desperate to bring in Americans when Americans are a fairly obvious outlier in huge participation very very few elite players.

On the up we’re taking him at the right time, get them over as young as possible and get them tested to see if there is any chance of making it.
Its also an expensive market I believe, not sure we will be getting best value from there.

A day later the game and reading through this thread for the first time since the final whistle and respecting all folks positions, I'm too long on the tooth to don't know points make prizes, however standing back, say any Englander, Taff or Norn fitba' supporter of any team watching the game would be scatching their nappers thinking is this the 'Scottish present and recent past suprimos taking on the team at the bottom of the Scottish League, with the Merricks game last week in mind?'
I tend to be aligned to the more positive posts though understand alternative analysis.
Altough I lost my 10 notes as usual, I'm confident that this guy has got it and although I like his talk and philosophy feel that he probably has a much needed hard streak as not yet seen, which we will see as the months go on. I have faith that he will implement positive actions which we long suffering will appreciate only after fruition. Which I think will happen.

Merricks nowt Hibernians three.

BIG G

Its funny to read all the posts praising Joe Newell after the abuse he has had in the past. I have said on here I think he is a good player in a shit team. He also seems to give a shit compared to others. Messi would toil at ER with his 'mates'

It’s fine to acknowledge a player has a had a good individual game, while simultaneously holding the opinion that same player isn’t really up to the standard of where we want to be.

only applies to some players , thats what annoys me about it . some its tactics , some its he's had an injury while others are just shite . Very few of our players are up to the standard of where we want to be . I'd be interested to hear which ones are up to that standard

I think they're still 50/50 for business tbh. Although it's gotten worse as time has gone on.

And I take it you're including wages on those 2?
Klidje less than 1.2m, Suto around £500k?
Yip conservative calculations on wages and employers NI etc.

I'm a fan of Joe, but even I know he shouldn't be a starter anymore. But I'll stand by him being better suited to this system than the other midfielders.

Barlaser was almost passable as a replacement while he was injured and Levitt really should've been, but he just looked too shy imo.
He actually might've been the right player now I've mentioned him.

This football needs at least 1 player who can take it, turn around, move it along and be there to take it back.

That might yet be Devaney. Not holding my breath though.

There's a video of him, playing against Celtic last year, watched it when he signed, and he looked a cracking player. Taking the ball under pressure, turning, getting the pass away.
Just haven't seen any of that yet for Hibs 😢

That’s kind of how opinions work though isn’t it, folk have theirs and they have their reasons (or maybe they don’t).

The injury stuff is a real thing though - some players come back stronger, some are never the same again. Mulligan looks to be in the latter category right now, concerned Rocky will be too. Then there are players like McGrath who are clearly very good footballers, but struggle to stay fit and get any form going.

Must admit, I find it strange that Reedjik hasn’t started Newell in every game so far, he can take the ball on the half turn and progress it. Devaney too.

Odd that he’s asked Mulligan and Chaiwa to do it, it’s not their game at all.

I get the team is unbalanced and we have some injury issues, but there have been too many unnecessary square pegs in round holes from Reedjik so far.

I personally don't rate McGrath , he was a player i never noticed playing against us (or for us unfortunately) . Mulligan , maybe a flash in the pan i don't know but he's been anonymous in the games i've seen (admittedly not all) Rocky has now become a cult figure but still usually looks likely to fuck up badly once or twice a game , sadly he's still probably our best centreback
