The following is a letter I have e-mailed to The SFA about yesterdays arsehole of a referee. What do the bouncers think of my correspondence!

24/09/2006
I am writing to convey my disgust at Alan Freelands performance in yesterdays game at Easter Road. The man was completely out of his depth and never got hold of the game from the minute he blew his first whistle.
In what before the game was a match up of two good footballing sides Freeland allowed the game to proceed in to a near riot and caused unneccessary suspensions for players who deserve better.
As a HIbs fan you may think its just sour grapes but his performance overall was unbelievably diabolical. I am a season ticket holder at Easter Road and travel to many away games and never before have I seen such an irresponsible display from such an incompetent referee.
Whether or not the red cards were justified at the time does not matter now but what does matter was the ignorance of Mr Freeland. Had he been able to control the game then I am quite sure the teams would of put on a display better than the fans were forced to endure yesterday.
Mr Freeland should never be allowed to referee another top flight game and would undoubtedly ruin many a lower league game as well with his ignorance to allowing the flow of the game. I would expect something to be done about this but won't be holding my breath.

If you many Hibs supporters were to send their frustrations towards the SFA perhaps something appropriate would be done to sort out yesterdays debacle.:hmmm :hmmm

What email address are you sending it too?
Im tempted to send an email along telling them just what i thought of his performance :banger:

I am the same, im wondering, because after watching that yesterday i was to tell them of my disgust.

Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to you to express my opinion in the way Mr. Alan Freeland handled the Hibernian v Falkirk game on 24/09/2006. This was undoubtedly one of the worst refereeing performance I have ever seen in my 20 years of following football. The only other one that comes even close to this was Kilmarnock v Hibernian in the last game of the season. Guess who was referee then? Thats right, a certain Mr. Freeland.

His performance was disgusting and almost caused a riot. There was fighting amongst fans and if it was not from the prospect of being banned from Easter Road myself I would have ran on the pitch and told him exactly how I felt. Well, I would not have told him. I would have physically shown him I how felt. If one person tried got onto the pitch yesterday then I can assure you 5,000 more would have followed him and Mr. Freeland would not have gotten out alone.

For his own benefit and safety you MUST make sure he is never a match official at any Hibs match again. He should not be a match official full stop. He would even turn a 2nd division game into a nightmare for the paying fans.

I and thousands of other Hibbys would LOVE to know how he or you can justify his performance today. It was shocking, There was talk before the game about Mr. Freeland and how bad a referee he was. Todays performance summed him up. A Very poor referee.

Im guessing I wont get a reply from you so im not holding my breath. You and referees have gone down in my book and what ever respect I had for you is now gone. I only wish I could have seen Mr. Freeland down Easter Road way outside the stadium.

Sincerely,
A very unhappy football fan.

Good stuff Swoosh - but it's best to never put a threat (evening it is talking about something you could have done but didn't) in writing.

Sent a raging one myself -----------http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish_football.cfm?curpageid=184

The SFA will simply say that he was enforcing the letter of the law, and applying it to the game as he saw it, blah blah blah. I'd be very interested to see the supervisor's report on the game, and the ref's performance, though, as you simply can't escape punishment for something like forgetting to send a player off.

Unfortunately, he seems to be a ref that the SFA like, and it wouldn't surprise me if he became a FIFA referee, if he isn't one already.

Just sent them mine along the same lines as this :thumbgrin

Hope the younger bouncers remembered to use a spell check before they sent these then - considering the "gramer" in some of the posts I've read today the SFA may have some trouble understanding exactly whats being said.

That would be "what's" - as in "what is being said".

Your grammar may be OK but you spelling isn't up to much. Intentional maybe.

wot is the address for the sfa

Swoosh man, hate to critisise as we all think Freeland is a grade A baw sack, but I think you should have left out all the stuff about wanting to give the ref a kick in! The chances are the only place the SFA will be forwarding that to is the police!! And we all know that the police will likely leave the knuckle dragging sectarian singing old firm "fans" alone and arrest a good hibby like yourself to make an example!

I decided to e-mail the SFA as well, here's my tuppence worth:

I am a season ticket holder at Easter Road and feel I need to write to you concerning the performance of Alan Freeland in the Hibernian vs Falkirk match.

I'm sure you will have read the press etc and are aware of the very poor standard of refereeing from this match!

I have been following Hibs for many years now and this is the only time I have felt the need to complain in writing about a match official.

Given Mr Freeland's performance I can only draw 2 possible conclusions, either:
1) He is grossly incompetent; or
2) He is corrupt.

Now if it is the former, I hope you will take action to ensure he does not referee another SPL match until he is up to the capable standard.

However, if it is the later this will have more severe consequences. Given what has happened recently in Italy, am I to assume you will be launching an investigation into any possible wrong doing (if only to clear the name of Mr Freeland and provide confidence to the paying public in Scottish football)?

Let me finish by saying this is in no way sour grapes at the result of the game. I accept that Hibs sometimes lose football matches, and in all probability would have lost on Saturday without Mr Freeland's help. However, i do believe the Scottish football paying public do deserve answers and that is the job of the national football association.

Thanks for your time.

They will probably just press the delete button likes!! They will be too scared to investigate as it will probably open a large can of worms!!!

i am just writing to complain about a certain referee alan freeland. He was the referee at the hibs vs falkirk match at easter road stadium on the 24/9/06. I am a hibs fan and have been all my life. I am also a season ticket holder and go to most away games and i have NEVER in my whole life of following hibs experienced anything like it. The only thing that would come close to it would be a game which hibs played kilmarnock on the last day of last season, And the referee in that game was a certain mr alan freeland. This is no sour grapes i know hibs can lose football matches and have lost many in the past, But saturday was just diabolocal. I felt like running onto the pitch and tellin mr alan freeland just how i felt, if it wasn't for the possibility of getting banned from easter road stadium. In the sunday papers most of them gave him a rating 1 out of 10. I am disgusted i have witnessed such a case and i am dissapointed he is representing scottish football and i really think you should consider his place in scottish football, and should not referee another hibs match. I am not holding my breath that you will do something about it but i would expect something to be done.

Sincerely,
A very dissapointed and angry football fan.

Nice letter Mr Bee. As you say the SFA will probably delete rather than respond or take any action but at least you and others have tried to voice your feelings.

Sent an email in mine and my dads name complaining. I am THAT angry!!!! :banger:

sorry to be a tit, but IMO these e-mails are pointless. they aren't going to pay attention to angry rants. an eloquently put, non-agressive e-mail will do much more good than saying you want to kick the ref's head in.:coffee:

Very true - you should always wait and day or two and Pa' Broon a wee bit before you send a complaint. At the very worst, sending aggressive emails could get you a visit from the rozzers.:tuttut:
