Labour

So a defence of Reform that's actually 95% an attack on Labour.

Some quick points:
- the assertion that he didn't have to declare the £5m is from Farage. You are full on about Starmer's suits but seem curiously uninterested in huge donations to Reform from foreign nationals. I expect you don't care about who paid for his house in Clacton?
- small boats numbers are down.
- defence spending is increasing.

What use are facts @Archie ?

Richard Tice was screaming for resignations over Angela Raynors capital gains tax while carrying out a 600k tax dodge himself. On sunday morning he was squirming like a fish on a hook when Laura Kuesenberg was asking him to condem the Reform councillor who said that Nigerians should be melted down and put in pot holes. He refused to say the screwball should never have been allowed to stand. This morning the GB News presenters were frothing at the mouth because Zak Polanskys old houseboat was in the wrong council tax band while completely ignoring Nigel Farage and his 5 million quid "personal gift" from a foreign donor.....honestly what a shit show UK politics have become

Being honest, regardless of the party, politicians are eager to feather their own nests

I knew Jimmy would agree with this. TBH I think that attitude is a get out of jail card for rogues. Trump is a prime example.
Archie those dafties are meant to be leading by example mate.

Why should we care when those fuckers don't?

Well they're not. So there.
And I am of the opinion that they are.

So there.

Actually small boat numbers have doubled in the last 3 years and the defence investment plan which should have been released last year still does not have a release date
Two of the slots for 8 type 26 frigates planned for the RN have been given to Norway with no plans as yet for the RN to regain 2 slots to replace them.
We currently have 5 frigates , not all of which are seaworthy.
The ones that are being built are not to increase the size of the navy they are to replace the ones we've got

But are falling.

No idea why the defence investment plan has been delayed. On planned spending:

Really can't see how getting rid of Starmer after only two years as PM is going to change Labour's fortunes.
It's completely senseless IMO.
He's made mistakes like every Prime Minister does, but he inherited a total shambles....and that takes time to fix.
It's his mainly left wing backbenchers who are behind all this of course....political pygmies who wouldn't be in their jobs if he hadn't won a massive majority in July 2024.

At the end of the day Labour are basically shiting themselves from Nigel Farage and Reform.
Do they seriously think that getting rid of Starmer and putting in someone like Burnham or Rayner is going to save them ?
MSM thriving on all this of course, and have relentlessly hyped the whole thing up to fever pitch.
IMO the whole thing has been overblown, and politics in this country is at the lowest ebb I can remember.

God help us.
Streeting is on right of the labour party (what sky news laughably cal the "progressive wing" hahaha) and he is the main schemer here. Sure, the lefties are taking the opportunity to avenge the sheer treachery Starmer deployed against their wing, but this dissatisfaction is across the party. Someone on the radio described Starmer as a civil servant to his core and I thought they nailed it. No doubt competent at a behind the scenes role but absolutely unsuited to leadership at the best of times, let alone now.

He's a technocrat. Great analysis and planner. Not such a great politician.

Just seen Streeting going into number 10 then exiting no long after his visit.

I read something yesterday about Andy Burnham.

So apparently he would be given a shot at becoming an MP again.

Which means the sitting mp will get removed and given a bung of some kind.

But what if Burnham doesn't get elected in said safe labour seat. It's no guaranteed as Reform, the greens and the islamic candidates would take lots of votes.

It's in the other political parties interests to keep the android in number 10.

Jings but politics is dead exciting the now.

It's the stick or twist connundrum: a change of leader might work or it might not. In 1981 the popular wisdom was that Thatcher was toast. And yet...

I think it's just a case of when Starmer gets binned Archie.

But as has been mentioned before there is no political civil war like a labour one.

TBF to her she at least had an economic plan/theory. It hurt working class communities very hard but their plan did turn the economy around from IMF bailout to one of growth.... With Labour what's the economic plan? There's no plan or theory. It's day by day. Trying their best to mitigate events. Starmer has nothing. He's no vision or plan. He's steady as you go. He doesn't really believe in change. Just "incremental change". And he's incapable of articulating any plan or vision. He's no leader. The country needs leadership from its Prime Minister. Thatcher & Blair had their supporters and their opponents but at least had some kind of vision and provided leadership. Unless Labour changes leadership now they're done forever.
