In a strange way, it was easier to implement lockdown with a conservative government under the sex yeti than it would have been with Labour. Could you imagine a Corbyn government trying to bring in those rules? The right wing press would have gone mental and called for insurrection.

As far as I know crypto currency throughput is not constrained by network latency but by cryptographic processing and architectural limits on blocksize.

To use a metaphor, if you are trying to ship a million tonnes of cargo from a to b, the limiting factor in this case is not having a motorway with a higher speed limit, but the fact that each shipment requires you to build a new truck, and a truck of an inefficient size.

Traditional settlement technologies can handle thousands of times the per second throughput of cryptocurrencies because they dont have to build trucks and the motorway speed limit is not a blocker.

I cant imagine digital passports presenting latency-bound problems either.

Perhaps you could expand on the problems here?

There was no secret about masts being disguised as trees, and other ornamental objects. It was covered quite extensively in the media when they were first introduced.
