Chat on Facebook that we'll take up our option to keep him.

I think we should, clearly got talent, still young enough to improve the decision making and moments of greed.

In an attacking side I cant see any reason why he wouldn't be an asset.

That's good news. I feel we'll see a lot more from him in a Lee Johnson side.

I thought he did well for us , ok he could have lifted his head a few times when crossing but overall a very direct player who can cause problems , I hope we take the option to keep him

Certainly capable of improving. It's his decision making at times and not being as greedy when there are players open. With some nurturing could be the next Boyley.

Oh that's a big statement, I will screenshot this and return to it mid season...😉

Just social media chat just now, nothing official.
I think Jasper has some good natural talent, and I like the way he is prepared to take on players has the self-confidence to try the unexpected.
He certainly is far from the finished article as you would expect at 20, but hopefully if we do sign him, Johnson and the coaching staff can work with him and iron out the flaws to his game

Glad we’ve not taken up the option, never showed nearly enough (Fir Park aside), slow and barely featured for us by the end of the season.

Is that not basically like for like? He played only 20 minutes for Bournemouth and whilst Jasper didn't pull up any trees he at least knows the league now.
We need proven experience dammit!

Did you read the full article? He was called back to his club and those 20mins was coming on as a sub, Obviously going to struggle getting into their first team but he is another one that is highly rated like the Leeds kid

Called back because he wasn't getting games I suppose

Is highly rated kids what we need? Mueller was highly rated as was Jasper and he seems now not good enough. Just saying, not trying to be controversial...

Erm we just signed a highly rated kid from Leeds, if they are ready to make that step up then why not. I am not saying we are in for this player or anything, but we also need better quality experienced players also not just young prospects.

I know we did and he plays in a position we need.
However, I just don't think 'highly rated' (unproven) youngsters is the road we want to keep going down. We can't expect them to adapt to a new league/culture just like that and we'll end up needing a creche.

I thought he was quite good and good have developed in a Squirrelesque sort of way.

Somebody has previously mentioned that and was a bit poo poo'd saying a reminder half way through the season.

Squirrel was a headless chicken to start with. There was only @Doc Shrink and me were fans! A lot of hard work and a few years when in to the Squirrel we don't have today! But we've got a few quid in the bank*.

*Which starts another discussion. Were the transfer fees received for Squirrel adequate compensation for the demise of the first team after he left and the position we found ourselves in at the end of the season?

Imo, yes.
We weren't gonna be a winning side just because of Boyle, we were struggling before that too.

So however many million it was, wouldn't have been made up unless we qualified for a euro group stage.
Which I'm not convinced we would've.
