is it illegal...

is it illegal to drive below the speed limit on roads in britain????

It can be considered 'dangerous driving' if you drive too slow as people expect cars to be travelling at a certain speed and if you drive too slow other drivers can make bad judgements based on the speed cars are normally driven at.

Why?

Have you had a crash?

In a way it is. Unless it's not safe to do so you are supposed to drive at the limit. 30,40, 60 mph etc...

You can be charged with Dangerous Driving if you are driving too slow, but it has to be a considerable difference such as 30 mph on a motorway.

Cheers guys:thumbgrin

Sec 2 is Dangerous Driving actually :detective:

Pedant Alert

Yes S2 is Dangerous Driving but the relevant offence for what the OP described would be S3.
S2 (dangerous) is only really used if there is serious damage or injury in a collision whereas S3 (careless) covers anything else whether there's been a collision / accident or not.:Bible:

Absolutely. You quoted in reference to someone talking about Dangerous Driving so I didnt want them getting confused!

Anyway, you would always liable a charge of Sec 2 and leave the rest for the court to decide.

Or so I heard anyway :dali:

i live in newcastle and im a van driver so im on the A1 everyday . you allways get the old folk coming off the slip roads onto A1 doing 30 -40 mph but never pick the speed up . its dangerous all right . its bad enough braking when van is empty but with a full pack of bricks on the back .( its sometimes touching cloth). if you cant do the speed limit you should find alternative roads to travel on .

It f#ckin should be.

Anyone that drives under 70 on an open road is insane and causes more crashes than any boy racer. And I f#ckin hate boy racers too.

Jesus, I'm turning into Jeremy Clarkson in my old age.

Pah.

Pink t-shirts! Spiky hair!

Pah.
