Oh go on then, I'm having a quiet night anyway. What does "urban warfare" mean? Another bit of "context" when air strikes with multi million dollar missiles are raining down upon civilians huh?

It means that

- when every other home is either converted into a missile launching site or booby trapped to make boots-on-the-ground clearance untenable
- and done so with the specific intent of creating civilian casualties from the inevitable response of aerial bombardment
- by people who declare such casualties as their intent and which is core to their ideology and strategy
- and who thus do not hide the entire populations inside the fortifications / tunnels they cower within, as they have the capacity to do
- that despite unprecedented efforts undertaken by the Israeli military
- you will get civilian casualties in line with other war zones where combatants embed themselves among civilians.


But.... You guys don't take brown people seriously. And so what Hamas say, and then do, and with considerable strategic and tactical nous, is for the birds. But then they don't take you seriously either. It's the whole basis if their strategy.

I haven't cited any figures bar the Hamas provided ones propagated by a credulous media.

You have quoted figures - provenance as yet unknown - during this discussion. I have based all my own quantification of genocide, or not, on Hamas' figures. I have also made reference to the things that Hamas say more generally.

Netanyahu press releases have not been utilised.

I've been making the point throughout: why are we unable to discuss Iran without bringing in the obsession? And when I say bringing in, I mean Iran being entirely ignored while the usual bier kellar / therapy session scrabbles around in its own muck.

It's not that simple though is it? You and Smurf are consistently pro-west, an understandable position. I would argue that most of the people who sympathise with the plight of Palestinians are also horrified by the actions of other authoritarian regimes, wherever they may be and whatever they are supposed to represent. The difference is what is being done "in our name". The British are deeply complicit historically and currently in the catastrophe that is occurring in Gaza. The US bombing of Iran has shown how impotent we are in influencing the regime in Iran. We can (theoretically) do something about those elected to act on our behalf.
