Cuba in September.

I arrived , my luggage did not, was there less than 24 hours then evacuated because of an impending hurricane.

15 Hours in a bus over land in cuba to the only open airport. with nothing to eat or drink,

Plane to Dominican republic and arrived at resort at 6.a.m.

The two double cheeseburgers and four double G&T's went down very quickly.

Four days later another hurricane arrived and we were confined to rooms for safety.

Still no luggage.

Only saving grace was humping the Americans in the Ryder cup and taking the Colin Nish out of them.

Four months after I got home my luggage arrived.

Where about in Italy were you thinking of ?

Only go to a place you can afford. You dont want to start married life up to your eyeballs in debt
.

Weather-wise stay in europe in August.Hurricanes in the caribbean, monsoons in asia.Italy is a crackin place for a honeymoon, lakes, amalfi coast, tuscany and the new 'in' place, Puglia. Weather,food,wine...it's got the lot.

i totally agree with this approach. goes for weddings themselves, too.

Sicily. Cefalu or Taormina. Can vouch for the latter.

I went to Italy. I recommend that; I'd suggest a multi centre - perhaps two out of three of rome / venice / florence and then some chill out time in the italian lakes?

I went to the Austrian Tyrol for mine. Scenery is picture postcard and it's relaxing place to be (if you like mountains and walking).

Also been to Limone sul Garda probably the nicest village on Lake Garda. Not for a honeymoon but it's quite hot and humid if you prefer that to high altitude and snaw:rollfloor

we went to Sicily with a stop in Paris for 3 nights - I'd definitely recommend it especially the aeolian islands, the mountains and scopelo.

word up! Salina is perfect. secluded, black sand, great food.

I checked it out too but my wife really wanted to go and I do not like to dissappoint her.

good to hear Lexo, I work for Trailfinders in Dublin :Sparkle_Cool:

there is a Trailfinders in Belfast Newry if ye want to try them.

people go anywhere for honeymoons nowadays, it really depends on your budget more than anything. as has already been said the Caribbean and Florida are best avoided in our summer due to the risk of hurricanes, although Barbados generally isn't affected by them.

best of luck with the wedding.

P.S If ye are planning on flying out of Dublin give me a call in the Dublin office!!

i had my honeymoon in august 07, got a mega deal on thailand and dubai.
thailand in august is always a gamble, but it wasnt too bad, just a right blatter of rain in the afternoon for an hour. dubai in august is mega mega hot.
probably best sticking to something upmarket in italy or southern europe, weather wise

Lake Como in Itay is nice. Went last summer and would recomend it to anyone, theres good english speaking hotel that is pretty cheap and once youv paid everything is free including the bar pluss its close to Milan and Switserland.
