Hibs Under 19’s

Wife and I were through at the game last night. We think the overriding feeling the young lads will be having today is they let themselves down, first by not playing to their strengths and second by missing a couple of penalties that were poorly hit, although that by no means tries to single out anyone. But I think @hibbybilly is spot on by saying St Mirren learned from their recent encounter with our young guys, as they were indeed the better team, with a couple of very skilful players. However, Gillie, McGrath, McMurdo and Josh Mcdonald kept taking the game to their opponents but, overall, the quality that the team have shown thus far kinda deserted them.
There was a good crowd there, with the Hibs supporters backing their lads, not only throughout the game, but especially so after the penalty shootout.
The League title is still on for them.

I don't remember him on the bench, but turns out he was! So I'll give you that.

If we keep shipping players down south or wherever and that keeps the facilities running then in some eyes it's a successful program.

It's not successful at producing a pool of Hibs players, but if we make money from it, then it's working.
Aye it was only a handful of times mate but he was in and about the squad. Whether he would have went on to do anything remains to be seen.

Aye thats true it is a success on that front that cannot be denied it's just frustrating how few have made the first team in the last 20 years when we have these facilities.

I really think Laidlaw could've played behind the forwards here.
But when you're being shipped out on loan to Arbroath or wherever, and got premiership clubs looking at you.
You don't really have a choice to make, it's right there screaming at you.

Really don't blame him, just gotta look where the rest of his team mates are now to see he probably made the right choice.

Aye that's it mate. Really thought we were onto something when Steve keane took charge of the academy, it looked like we had a plan set in place to make a pathway for the young boys to make it in the first team but it seems like that's all fell flat on its face again.

On loan at boreham wood. What's the point in leaving Hibs to end up on loan there? Will these young laddies ever learn? Whoever is advising them should be sacked. Ethan Laidlaw was another promising talent that's went down there never to be seen again!
Aye, granted but you couldn't turn down the chance of a crack at the EPL. He'll no doubt surface again up here somewhere like Killie or St Johnstone (and probably fucking score against us)

Surely they must ken deep down though that they're no ready for that level eh? Like unless yer Wayne Rooney good, going down there just seems a waste of time football wise. The money must be stupid, even at that age.

Hibs beat Celtic 5-3 this afternoon.
A hat-trick from Dean Cleland and one each from McSporran and and Lewis Gillie.
Rangers won their game 2-1 with a last minute winner...so they win the league on goal difference.
I wonder when Hibs will announce which of this team are being kept on and who are being released ?

Cleland isn’t getting a contract

A bit surprised at that,,,he scored 40 goals last season.
They must just think he isn't going to make it at Hibs level, and are giving him the chance to forge a career in the lower leagues.
His loan spells at East Kilbride and Stranraer have not really gone as well as hoped.
Hope he does get another club and has some sort of career in football.
