I believe our new state of the art training complex opens today for the first time.

It will undoubtedly be beneficial to the players and coaching staff not having to travel far and wide for a suitable park to train on day in day out.

I just wonder if this will have an effect on the poor displays we have been putting in recently and see us back on our game.

Re: East Mains opens today...

maybe they have a machine like the one on a tennis court. They could fire footballs at MAC all day to try and get him down to one touch!

I wonder if he can keepy-uppy his age yet?:dunno:

Re: East Mains opens today...

Hopefully there will be a decent level of media exposure on this, like Celtc received.I'd like a wee nosey round down there sometime...is that possible?

think you will be allowed cant seeing them saying your not allowed in

Re: East Mains opens today...

This is great news but again i need to have a wee moan..

The official site promised updates etc and i think the communication on this development has been very poor. It's a fantastic story to tell but typically with Hibs it's all low key.

Without doubt Kenny. This is the biggest thing Hibs have done in a long time imo...new stands are great, but for us to have our own training facility to help attract players to the club as well as developing the young guns in a better environment is massive, but I've seen feck all from Hibs about it recently.Mibbe later today they'll release something?

Re: training centre

Looks great. Hope they've got some legends down to officially open it.

Also, a name for it would be good.

Farmer Park?

Pretty poor coverage IMO on the official site now..

I was given an opportunity to attend a 'communications' feedback evening and this was a point I had made at this meeting with Crowther, David Forsyth and Ian Spence they conveyed the lack of communication on this development was down to the fact that things weren't running smoothly with the development and didn't want to advertise the fact however this was back in September so from there I dunno there reasons as to why this was kept incredibly quiet.

Maybe it was to prevent the shellic from stealing this as well.....:dunno:

Re: training centre

The Training Centre has five international size grass pitches and a floodlit international size FIFA Two Star synthetic pitch - which means that it meets the standard for playing international matches, let alone for training.

Good enough for reserve matches then:smug:

David Forsyth's business is employed by the club IIRC to do our PR. Benchmark PR?

I would love to know just how much we pay in PR fee's to Benchmark.. Anything in our accounts?

Maybe The Gunts could hire it when they build their 51 Million Pound 5000 extra seats stand (:rollfloor:rollfloor:rollfloor) rather than hire any other ground?

After all they are used to HIRING a training ground!:giggle::giggle::giggle:

Re: East Mains opens today...

alrighty, ive been up and had a look a few weeks back ,firstly you might miss the left turn on the road to ormiston BEFORE the bridge but once in i have to admit its pretty big and looks good ,they have a few big pitches and an outside astro pitch didnt get to see inside as they were still working but its great news if its finished as i didnt think it would be before xmas:YAYYY::banana

Fantastic. A thread about our new training facilities and yet someone still fukking manages to get in a gripe about a player :dub4:mibbe try sticking roughly to the point in hand at least for a wee while.

Great news, agreed it should be on Scottish News tonight the same as the plastics one was. Wuoldnt mind a wee look at the place either.

Re: East Mains opens today...

Good news. I hope that this will help in attracting players to the club and also make the youth system even better. :applause:

I agree with the poor communication through the official website, and Hibs should have made a bigger fuss about it than they have IMO.

Re: East Mains opens today...

I hope STV has the cameras down at East Mains for this opening. It would be interesting to know who is offically going to cut the ribbon and if it is going to be called "East Mains". Looking at the big slab of Granite in the photo, the place does not seem to have an official name.

I would call it the "Brown, Thomson, Whitticar and O'Conner" Centre.

Yes that is true that evening he sat there and basically put spin on a whole lot of communication chat it wasn't until he had to leave early to go to a dinnner dance that we really got answers from Crowther and Spence as for paying him I dunno what we pay and I dunno WHY we pay them because really nothing interesting ever comes out of ER this forum proves that to a point. I guess it wont be cheap though but I dont IMO feel it is required.

Re: East Mains opens today...

Just got a text from the EEN....

"See the first pictures of Hibs new training ground in your Evening News today and read what a proud John Collins has to say about the brand new facility"

Some media coverage at least...

It will be on the news the night i think:coffee:

Re: East Mains opens today...

:hmmm

Or for short 'Football Market'?

The way we normally lose our players, they would have been as well building an "Auction block" inside the complex. The young laddie gets led in on a leash, and the scouts for the infirm have a prod and a poke at him as he goes past. RP gets on the mike and says "Bids start at 100000" etc etc.

I am a bit disappointed in the coverage in the EEN tbh. I bought the rag hoping to see a good few pics not 4 in total

Meanwhile, on the online EEN home page, one of the top stories is about Hearts garden gnomes being a top Christmas seller.

Re: East Mains opens today...

Going by the latest feeeling on here, sack the groundsman for being a scruff, sack the tea lady for a weak brew, hang yourself for being a Hibby, why, because we don't win every week.
:laff:
Marvellous achievment that will produce a conveyor belt of talent in the years ahead. Hibbies that love and support their team through good and bad, deserve the progress being made by the club. This season has a long way to go. GGTTH. Right i'l take that tablet now.

They are bootwashing facilities. To the left of that picture is a set of brushes where the players put their feet in and scrape mud off. They then get to wash their boots in the basins in the picture.

I thought that that was what the youth team was for:rollfloor
