While there has been plenty food for thought provoking stuff written about the team, tactics, etc over the past few weeks, this Saturday (8th) will see the coming together of Hibernians to celebrate the founding of the greatest fitba' team on our wee planet, with the unveiling of a plaque on a gatepost of the entrance to St Patricks Church, facing into the Cowgate, paid for by monies raised by St Patricks Branch members and other Hibernians. Think round blue plaques celebrating where famous folk lived or were born, across the country. Ours is made of bronze, much bigger than the usual ones and in emerald green not blue naturally. I've seen It and it's magnificent and will be there for generations of Hibees, parishioners, tourists and the curious to see for generations to come.
A special Mass, initiated by Church clergy themselves, will be held at 12.30 to commemorate all Hibernians who have passed since our founding.
At 1.30 the unveiling proceedings will commence. Speakers will include Mike Hennessy author of the excellent,The First Hibernian - the Mission of Edward Joseph Hannan and Hibernian FC Board member Malcolm McPherson. Patrick Gordon Stanton will unveil the plaque.
All attendees at the ceremony will then be invited by St Patricks Branch to have food, wine, teas and coffees and a good blether with your fellow attendees.
All very welcome.
