I've got my own personal opinion of Goram, but I don't make up songs about it,just as I don't make up songs about Mercer's wife watching her husband die of a brain heommorage (ok spelling) .There are some tasteless wee fucks coming through in the Block 7 crew,and the worrying thing is there's a grown up hanging about with them, gives me an uneasy feeling.

When I read the like of what Hatts posted about twatter, it just reinforces how correct I was never to have joined it.

Pussbook I used not long after it went massive, and I used it to find 2 long lost hermanos rom back in the day. The account got immediately binned after it served its purpose.

Giving these Hibernians abuse is mental. These guys brought the old lady home FFS. Its beyond my understanding tbh

I’m with you on that one feelings still run high about Mercer and what he tried to do but I’ll not join in any songs about him.
 
If another wee twat regurgitates the Skacel song I might feel like oh I don't know.I'll wait until their 18th birthday so I can smack them in the kisser.

I'm not in the least bit surprised some youth of today are disrespectful. I didn't start this thread to point that out. Singing with glee about cancer, death etc is my point and that's what I hate. I was as big a teenage arsehole as any but that type of pish would never be sung by me or my peers despite what some think.

If you're making up songs about people dieying of cancer or the Ibrox disaster or whatever it would suggest to me that there's something in your background not quite right.It reminds me of Sid who's second name I can never spell right penning Belson Was a Gas.

You're quite right, I was just amazed that anyone could be amazed at youngsters being disrespectful in any context.

What I was not trying to do was divert attention from the death song culture; yes, folk will start this kind of thing amongst friends - you just hope there is at least one amongst them who is not afraid to call it out for the unfeeling nastiness it provokes but that's a big ask at a young age.

No that clever though, because there weren’t any gas chambers at Belsen.
 
For example , in my teens, while at Hibs games and mixing with a slightly older bunch than I would have normally , I sang songs about the IRA, and other unsavoury ditties.
I'm ashamed of that fact, and realised relatively quickly that it was all a lot of shite, but I still done it. We all do daft things in our immature year's.
Again, I'm not saying it shouldn't be stamped out, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who got involved in stuff I would now be horrified by.

We all knew the ‘songs’ back in the day.
I must admit when I first heard “the sash” I was confused because some sang “the sash my father tore” so I didn’t know which side I was on.

Found out.

You're absolutely spot on mate.

The sad realisation for me is that the youth haven't evolved to be better than we were, so to speak. I know teens and the like will always be arseholes, and it surely is in the minority - sadly that minority can be vocal.
 
The difference between now and back in the 70's and 80's is, as with everything now, social media.
Immature attention seekers ( which is what they are) now have the perfect vehicle...stuff can be filmed in clubs and bars then it goes viral.
That's what these folk want.
At the games itself, well the clubs have the names and addresses of everyone who has bought tickets and what seats they are in.

Yeah and back in the 70s you’d leg it if you saw the polis coming now they just stand and get their phones out and film everything to put on antisocial media.
No real deterrent.
