Glen Michael RIP

I remember him and palladin the lamp... gave me a nightmare once where my bedside lamp started growling and a voice said palladins hungry... some kids were scared of the dark.. after that I was scared to turn the bloody light on

I'm surprised that presenting a show from 1966 to 1992 isn't some sort of record, but I guess it would have been mentioned in the article if it was.

Still, some feat to have introduced cartoons to Scottish boomers, gen x and millennials alike.

RIP Glen

Yup another part of everybody's childhood born in the 60s gone. Didn't realise he was that old.

An interesting point, which sent me to Google. Its AI says ;

The longest career as a TV presenter belongs to Sir David Attenborough, spanning 71 years and 104 days from 1953 to 2024. He presented various shows, including his debut on "Animal Disguises". A related record is held by Don Francisco, who presented the Spanish-language variety show "Sábado Gigante" for 53 years, the longest-running variety show hosted by the same presenter.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Sir David Attenborough:
    His record is for the longest career as a TV presenter overall, not tied to a specific show. He started on "Animal Disguises" in 1953 and his career concluded in 2024.

  • Don Francisco:
    He presented the longest-running variety show under the same presenter, "Sábado Gigante," for 53 years from 1962 to 2015.

  • Patrick Moore:
    He presented "The Sky at Night" from 1957 until his death in 2012, making it the longest-running TV show with the same presenter.

I don't think Attenbrough counts, that's more like longest TV career. I think Patrick Moore has it for British TV if Google is correct.
