This is just a step too far IMO. Authoritarian state bollox. I can understand the reasoning behind it but, if the parents can't afford the school meals what else can be done? @EGB is bound to have a strong opinion on this.

Teachers can confiscate and KEEP pupils' unhealthy food under government rules for lunchbox inspections

Would you like to know more?

Poor kids in state education are fucked due to the left wing bampots whose barmy ideas are like arsenic for those without a secure and supportive home - the demolition of so many of those being another progressive gift to the less affluent in particular. Still it all does its job in providing the captive votes without which the progressive mission cannot be further pursued.

That said, there's stupidity on all sides here with the shite some kids are given to eat. I see no problem in mandatory school dinners, free for those who cannot afford them. Children are not adults and sometimes they need to do what their told for their own good. In a world of premature sexualisation, traduced education and ideological indoctrination it's hardly a pressing concern.

You have stated on many occassions that little things [such as this] are trickled through so that people barely notice they are being controlled [or words to that effect] so I am surprised at your dismissive reaction to the story if I'm honest.

Sorry dub I sort of answered a different question than you raised. I think this confiscation business is ridiculous but I think it could be circumvented by mandatory healthy school dinners. I've no problem with that. Our society wants to treat children like adults and adults like children. I have no problem treating each for what they are.

When my son was in P2 he had a wee English girl in his class. Her mother was amazed at what was allowed in packed lunches up here.Down in Manchester she was given a list of prohibited foods and drinks, warning letters were sent home if sweets of fizzy juice were found in a kids piece box.

Tis nowt new dubster

So in lots of schools there's a dress code, even if it's not a formal uniform, and that code lists what is and isn't acceptable.

That's good but the further it goes towards compulsory uniform the better.

When it comes to lunchboxes a list of what is and isn't acceptable is unacceptable.

The kids are in a place of learning, somewhere they will learn the skills setting them up for life.

To be fair I'd rather have the lunchboxes rules enforced than the uniforms.
