Gent Away

Lowe has been average at best, but does a job physically that others can't.
Same argument I had with Mykola and the reason that Bowie didn't really work for me.

Lowe is a better option that Klidje in that job.

And I agree he's not been given a chance, but I'd still pick Lowe and Elding ahead of him.
Suto I'm less convinced with, but he came up with the goods at the end of the season when others weren't.

If it came down to those 4 players and Boyle, I know Klidje or Suto would be staying home for me.
Mykola much more of a threat than Lowe from what I've seen so far.

As long as he's at Hibs he's ours. I don't care that he goes away at the end of the season, there's been plenty loans that we'd have suffered without, so for me they're ours.

I've explained why I've picked him. The physical job required. Suto looks big, but he's not a target forward or a hold up player.
Klidje can leap, wouldn't take that away from him, but he's not a target forward. Winning headers isn't the same as doing the job. Josh Campbell wins headers and everyone hates him. Wouldn't play him as a striker either.

There's every chance they'd have scored something he hasn't, but there's every chance they wouldn't as well.
There's no guarantees they'd make the assist he's made, no guarantees of anything.

Opinions though. I want Klidje to get a chance, but I can see why he hasn't made the squad.
Klidge has been a flop there's no getting away from that. There is no way Gray would not be playing him if he was banging them in in training. Same at Randers.

Go back a year and there's me plus about 2 others who thinks he was a good player for us.

Teams a sum of all it's parts, and someone who can bring the ball down and bring others into the game is fundamental to what we do.
Lowe coming and saying he wants to be top scorer will hold him back imo.
Keep quiet and do your job, brings expectations down a bit.

I liked him, had good feet for big guy and decent in the air, tied up defenders, always tried. Shame he was hampered by injuries. Agree re Lowe. I think he has a good go on the pitch but maybe those early goals against Brondby have set expectations too high. Needs to earn his place rather than be automatic first pick imo.

I get the impression that the management are far from impressed with Klidje's game awareness and game intelligence, or lack thereof. I often see him being berated from the sidelines for not getting across to close down a defender; he often just seems to be in the wrong place. Very frustrating for all concerned.
I suspect the Randers regime took a similar view.

I'd agree with that. But it's up to other players to take his place too.
I think he's in on work rate and tools available rather than goals scored or chances missed.

The fact Klidje was sent away on loan when he could've been here doing nothing instead is telling.

I'm still convinced he was signed so we could sign Chaiwa. Said it since the day Chaiwa signed.

Spot on.
Bit of a coincidence that neither club saw fit to 'give him a run of games'. Despite him having a mammoth price tag. Perhaps he has the touch of an elephant.

Could well be that his talent isn't matched by awareness or attitude. There's no way he would be ignored by managers if they thought he'd improve their team.

You hav

You have got to ask yourself if anyone from Hibs actually watched him play before we pissed away 1.5 million on him or was he signed on the strengh of some You Tube videos sent by his agent?

That's the question for me. We have a 'team' of talent spotters. Unless something went very wrong after we signed him, I'd suggest that Malky and his team pissed on our chips with this one.
Move him on.

Hibs supporters in Ghent 🇳🇬

Fanzone

We’ve secured the exclusive use of O’Learys Sportsbar (Dok Noord 7/301, 9000 Gent) as a Hibernian supporter fanzone on Matchday.

Food, drink & music will be available in the 1,000 capacity venue, open from 2pm Thursday ✅

It is anticipated that there will be fans travelling over without tickets.

These supporters are going to need somewhere to watch the match and O’Leary’s Sportsbar is the correct place to watch with like-minded Hibs Supporters.

Lots of screens, food, drink and activities.

The club will provide a similar offering to what supporters experienced at the Bolek bar in Warsaw last year

Venue tour can be found here - O'learys | Gent

Supporter recommendations for Wednesday

There are plenty of bars and restaurants around the Korenmarkt and Vrijdagmarkt areas which has great options for supporters to meet up.

The city is compact and walkable, with plenty of public transport options, but we will have travel to stadium advice to follow shortly.
Something not quite right about going to Belgium and drinking beer in a sports bar. From looking at their menu I can get the majority of those beers in Edinburgh.

The Korenmarkt square looks like a good option. Plenty of local food and drink options by the looks of it. See you there 🍻

No, Hammi, he isn't; he belongs to his parent club. I can't say I've seen much of this hold-up play you mention, but not to worry. You rate him; I'd rather see one of our actual players playing instead of him. We aren't going to agree, so I'll leave it here.

Only rate Elding currently tbh. Boyle I know can do it from time to time.
But I see tools that we can use in Lowe and understand his inclusion.

And you're right, he does belong to his parent club. But he's here and we're paying him and/or his club to use him. So if he's ahead of Klidje then he plays.

Suggesting we shouldn't use loans? We've had a few extremely successful loans in the past.

We don't have to agree. I want to see what Klidje has, but not in Europe. See the reaction to me wanting to try other players against Partick? Why would we do it against Gent? 🤷

FFS Doc. Give the guy a chance, which I think that Gray has most definitely not. His tactical genius is not very inspiring to me.The same stuff was said about Rocky. Granted not a high cost signing. I spoke with him recently and he admitted that his first game was a disaster. A few other dodgy performances had experts of the beautiful game on bere calling for his head add nausea on here. A very few including myself said that the young guy would come good. He did. Hibs should give this lad a fairer chance by selecting a formation that suits his undoubted talent in my opinion.
By the way Rockie thinks he'll be back before Christmas. Good news.

Fair play on Rocky, I well recall you standing up for the guy in the face of much criticism- the Gunts singing his name was a low point. But he came good.
I’m not so sure your faith is so well placed in this guy though.
His loan deal was a fail too, so whether we can afford to ‘give him a run’ is a question for the coaches, who seemingly aren’t convinced.
If the coaches won’t play him, get him gone.
Get someone else in that is worth the big bucks, and will get a jersey.

He is 25 and looks like he's still learning the game sometimes. I think he has got talent but not suited to Hibs in our present format. Might have been more effective in a more attack minded possession based team that played through the middle more but I just don't see where he fits in with Gray's style of play.

As sure as my 3- 0 certainties, I know, I know! That lad has got something that ticks with me, whether the wise coaching staff, who oversaw Kelty Merricks and Dunfermline triumphs think otherwise, well that's up to them.

The lad scored a fantastic goal at home v Livingston and won us a penalty in a great 4-0 win.

It was mid October almost 3 months into the season and that was only his 3rd start. Gray has given more starts to Lowe in 7 days. It was obvious then Gray didn't rate him.

The fantastic goal BTW was a sublime turn to lose the defender and he hammered it top corner.

After the game Gray said:

I'm delighted for Thibault. He's had to be patient to get another start, and he's been restricted to a few appearances from the bench, but he certainly took his opportunity, which is great to see.

"There's always expectations, you can't do anything about what people pay for you and that's just the nature of the world at the moment.

"There's a settling in process, not expecting too much, being patient with him.

"He played against Livingston the last time and he was a threat the same way, running in behind.

"He always looks to be on the last line, on the last shoulder, and the game plan we put in place was to try and exploit that space in behind, which he's done really well.

"I'm delighted for him, strikers want to score goals so that's something that will do him the world of good."

He played again the following week up at Aberdeen and scored again.
