First off, I have already reserved @hibbybilly ‘s table on this thread, and got a round in.

Housekeeping attended to, I do love a good muffin, and I’m sure many of you do also. With that in mind I wanted to share the ‘new to me’ pleasures of the ‘Oven Bottom Muffin’.

What a wonderful bap this is, a pleasure in the hand and in the mouth. Compared to the dried out stodge of a Scottish Muffin, the Lancashire version is light and nubile, with a pleasantly squeezable texture.

I recently discovered them at Tesco, though more experienced muffin men may well find this old news. Anyway, recommended.

You'll be moving on to erotic fiction next...

Having pondered this reply, baffled, a dark thought has occurred.

@aggie have you imposed some 'double entendre' onto my innocent celebration of a fine bakery treat?
Have you had such a sheltered life that "muffin the mule" is just a puppet to you. If so, think of muffin as a verb. :grinning-smiley-045:

Very disappointing. Saw the title and rushed to the keyboard and aaaaah! Nothing, not even a mention of Muffin' the mule.
I think that's still against the law.

I got mine in Tesco @Dub (the brand in op) but if you are vouching for Sainsbury's I may have to seek them out!
I thought I saw them in there. I'll be going along tomorrow so I will double-check and perhaps purchase a packet.

Sainsbury's does indeed stock said item and it seems that Ma and Pa Sheldon have cornered the market. A fine roll [I can't bring myself to call it a bap or a muffin].

👍👍👍
Even worse - when I was a laddie (just after the Boer War) growing up in London, adults got a sandwich and kids got a "buppy" as in a buppy jam or a buppy sausage. Elsewhere oop North it was called a buttie which was only marginally better. Buppy jam - jeezo!

Splendid @Dub, my work here is done (and my vocabulary above selected for purposes of my Benny Hillesque review)

A lot of our younger viewers wont know who the lady in the picture, Fanny Craddock was. She was a 1960's tv chef before male chefs became popular.
She once turned down a marriage proposal from another 1960's tv personality called Tom Weir, for much the same reason Stevie Nicks turned down a marriage proposal from William Shatner

Took me a second or two Billy. Bravo!

Admittedly nobody. And nobody apart from egb has even commented.
Hey Mr EGB...explain, why Bravo?
Fanny Wee-er and Stevie Shat in er knicks

It does fall down a wee bit on one being double barrelled and the other not.

Shat in her knicks is easy to understand and a quite clever.
I thought the Fanny one might be something to do with pissing but that was so unfunny I discounted it.
Oh well 🤷
