Short term I agree but I’m talking about the bigger picture.

We could be here this time next season having the same conversations about the same manager with the same style of boring slow ponderous football on display.

Indeed we could be regretting another managerial appointment which leaves us in need of another rebuild and so on ad infinitum.

I saw it as a 3 year project to begin with. If within two years we have achieved European qualification twice, I’d see that as a successful period which, in my book, justifies giving him another year. A lot could go his way next season and a lot could go against him but for me he’s done enough to be given the chance. Much will depend on transfer business (ins and outs) this summer but I think the most recent permanent signings have, in the main, been positive.

I agree with your point and the proof will be in the pudding next season.

Gray will be here next season but he has to change this slow ponderous style he’s got us playing.
 
Beat the gunts, murderwell and felkirk, lose the other 2. Shpuld be enough to dent those horrible bastards title hopes and still in with a shout for 4th.

Couldn't give a flying fuck about lying down to the in-firm. Fuck the gunts!!!
I'd rather see England win the world cup again! Would still be less hassle!

Agreed but if we beat Hearts we will have done our bit. 2 wins over them will be more than Celtic have managed come the end of the season.

7pts from the last 5 games is def achievable IMO & if 3 of them come against the Gunts then all the better.

We haven't had too many managers to bring consistency like that, and we all know that the grass isn't always greener on the other side :102:

To change my mind Hibs need to come out with a different game plan and actually play to win the game.

This is the worst bottom 6 for years. We've thrown away so many points that we had no business dropping. We're top 6 because that bottom 6 are useless. Aberdeen are 8th with 18 defeats before the split! 18 defeats in relegation playoff material after the split.

That Aberdeen side beating us is extremely poor.
Playing Livingston at Easter Road and not even causing them a problem, is extremely poor.
Motherwell are average and folk were calling them the best team in the league 4 weeks ago.

We're shite, the league position doesn't paint the picture.
I'm bored at Easter Road, Hibs are boring, and the teams that come to play us are boring.

We've failed to capitalise on last season's success. We've carried no momentum from our European exploits into the regular season.

Doesn't matter who we sign in the window. We're gonna play 3412, they're gonna have to work in Dave's system or they're gonna get wasted.
We're gonna stand off, we're gonna show teams the wide areas and we're gonna counter with the wingbacks. At a 70/30 split.

I want an attack minded coach.
Not wanting a new manager in case we get a Montgomery or a Johnson, but for all those managers there's another Tony Mowbray, there's another Alan Stubbs, there's another John Collins.

Each of the managers we've wanted sacked over the years, we've had calls for St Mirren managers, Motherwell managers, Hamilton managers...
There's talent out there. Shouldn't be scared to go and get it.

Brilliant post Hammi.

All of what you say is spot on.

This has to be the poorest league I’ve seen for a good while and we’re miles away from taking advantage of it. The old firm are absolutely honking and we’ve not scored a goal against rangers in numerous attempts.

We play a rigid 3412 shape. No flexibility or even looking to change and try something different even though at the start of the season he was willing to tell anyone amd everyone that formations can be flexible and change from game to game and within games are there if needed. Basically Plan A and if that doesn’t work then it’s still plan A. Livingston as you highlighted was just laughable. 3 central defenders and a sitting midfielder against the side who sat 15/20 yards off us, who have only won 1 single game all season and no clean sheets in 25 games before rocking up at Easter road.

I want David Gray to do well , we all do but he doesn’t help himself with his approach to games at times. His subs are baffling , tactics are honking and performances at times are dreadful.

He will be here to start the season, there’s very little doubt about that but he has to change and adopt a full forward thinking approach, he’s got the players but he simply won’t do it.

Agreed but I'm not agreeing that Motherwell are average. I'd love Hibs to have been set up to play the Motherwell way this season. Had we been we'd be above the Gunts. We have better players than Motherwell.

They are, they were at Easter Road a fortnight ago, they weren't up to much.
Average as fuck.

We should be better
We should play how they play, but we should be better than that imo.

No they were not at Easter Road a fortnight ago. We played them at Fir Park where they were poor but still better than us.

You can't judge any team on one performance in isolation. Throughout the season Motherwell have played pretty consistently and with their budget sitting 4th playing their brand of football is an amazing achievement.

Saying they're "average" suggests you've not really watched them this season.

Suggesting they're amazing is overestimating what they are. And really shows how poor this league is.

And you're right, I meant against us rather than Easter Road. I replied after waking up on the couch last night.

They've only scored 1 more goal than us, they've only won 1 more game than us. They've done better defensively than us.

If we're shite, how can they be amazing?

Our budget is much much more than theirs. We have better players. Their coach has much better utilised what he has at his disposal.

So they've done better than us. That doesn't make them a good side.
They're an average side over achieving. And we're a decent side under achieving.

They had a good spell in the middle of the season. But that's about it.
And the boy up front, not gonna try and butcher his name, he's a good player. He'd do well in a really good side.
 
If SDG beats Hertz next weekend or gets us into the Top 4/Europe he should stay. Either would do fine.

It's a results-driven business. SDG should know that.

If he does neither then this season has been a huge disappointment and I’d be for letting him go and getting in Askou or someone better, who can get a decent tune of a decent squad.
 
Anyone non ST holder get any joy with a ticket? Gone in a flash which is a good thing but not if you didn't get one which is my fate unfortunately.
 
A friend tried, he had three tickets in his basket. When he went to the check-out, they disappeared.

When it's a sell out there will be ticket resale in operation.
