Final five games

Not me.
Want rid because he's negative, boring and has shown not a single shred of change this season.

From first kick, to last kick, we play the exact same style and gameplan. Week in, week out.
Agree. I'm amazed people keep saying it's all to do with how Hearts are doing.

I'm still SDG-in but only because I'm terrified of who his replacement might be. Another Maloney, LJ or Monty is "be careful what you wish for" stuff. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for our manager but that's where I'm currently at. Could well change after the derby.

If he wins the derby the the support will rally behind him.

If he doesn’t then the voices for how to go will only get louder.

For the avoidance of doubt, I was jokingly painting a scenario that summed up this headache of a season more than having sly dig at folk who want a manager change, but I get what you are saying, we are a poor watch just now.

That said, are we in the same situation as the national team and Clarke? Watching Scotland at times you totally understand the "Clarke out!" sentiment, but he is doing what's expected: getting us to tournaments. Ditto - can you really sack a Hibs manager if they finish 3rd then 4th?

But then you do have to start looking at this season, as a season where Hearts have been top all season, the points tally to win the league is lower than it's ever been. (COVID season aside)
Then look at the massive gap between the top 6 and the bottom 6.

This isn't a strong league.
Hearts being top and Motherwell being 4th isn't evidence of a strong league. It points towards the bottom 6 sides being largely useless.

How many points we've picked up against the other top 6 sides, performances causing attendances to drop.
All good us advertising 18000 every week, because those tickets are sold 12 months earlier.

We're not moving forward, I don't think there's a number that trends upwards.
The only positive is how hard we are to actually take 3 points from. But we're not a team anyone worries about losing their own 3 points against either.

So on a piece of paper. 4th could look good.
But we aren't playing like a side finishing 4th, we play like a side fighting relegation.
Not losing takes priority over winning. At least that's how it looks.

That isn't good enough for me. Is rather we try and win.
Winning ugly is a skill, a skill you need when you struggle to compete on any given day. Not the blueprint for a season.

*** Internationals are different, your campaign is built on playing 6 games. Where those extra points are worth so much more.
But when you get to the tournament, you should play to win. That's my issue with SC at Scotland.
Great job getting to the finals, but once we're there, we play scared.

This season wouldn't tempt me back anyway , finishing 5th in this league with our resources and the garbage regularly on display isn't great in my opinion

That would be a different type of meltdown.

Lose to Hearts then beat all their rivals to the title 😅
The ultimate ‘fuck you’ to us long suffering fans. The thing is, that would just be peak Hibs to pull that off

Turgid is a Bounce term for utterly shite boring football.

I don't know the origins, but I believe it came through the just backs.

Never been a bed wetter and no one more than me wanted davey to do well but results this season have been poor and talking to another hibby who asked me to name one player that he or the coaching staff have made better and I couldn’t name one , honestly , and any players who have done well has been in spite of Gray not my opinion but that’s how it was put to me
I think his time has to be up at season end .
Robbie Keane seemingly getting the tic job so go and break the bank for Askou

....its wider than the bounce Hammi, ive read it elsewhere, often.

Those posting it mean shite fitba, its just weird how they use a word which doesnae make sense 😂

Lose to hearts.
Winning the other 4 could( probably would?) get European football for next season.
But that would not be a satisfactory outcome?
Not if, by beating us, it means they win the league.
It’s a similar situation to Robbie Neilson losing the fans and ultimately his job after we lifted the cup in 2016. He was never forgiven for not stopping us.

what do you mean by turgid football?

I don’t think Hibs football is the problem, I think modern football is now boring.

We’re not a fundamentally different team to Hearts, Celtic or Rangers - we’ve got different results.

Changing managers is a high risk strategy to get better results from where we are: for someone like Aberdeen it’s a no brainer.

We could end up this season by beating everyone in our league.

Another definition of turgid from the cambridge dictionary -

  • boring That was such a boring film I nearly fell asleep during it.
  • excruciating She went over the plot of the book in excruciating detail.
  • deadly His latest film was just deadly. I left after the first hour!
  • mind-numbing The incident was described in a mind-numbing, 400-page report so dense that no one read it.
All words that can describe Hibs on many occasions this season.

Yup - foot on the brake stuff most of the time, bugger all to do with the other mob across the city.

Its the same sort of nonsense spouted after Miller was booted - "hounded out" because hed played for the huns. Nope, we'd had enough after 10 years. Anyhow 10 years to hound someone out????

Anyhow to the question, suspect we will narrowly beat both "them" and 'well, lose to the weejis and draw with Falkirk, 7 points.

Its easy to forget when focusing on Hibs just how crap the other teams are in the league too.

That’s what I was going to post!

Turgid can have a nuanced meaning, and I think those descriptions explain well why football can be turgid at times.
