I think Fargo is exceptional. Burn After Reading however, was pish(IMO)

treachery and deceit! the plot's a bit thin but all the characters are splendid. Especially Malkovich and Clooney.

I thought their performances were excellent, they were all good from the major players TBF, but I thought the story itself was weak. Kept waiting for it to kick in. I did go in with high expectations though - maybe too high. Not to worry, season 5 finale of The Wire to watch tonight!

Gotta do it. In one night, back to back. Not in bit-parts. :thumbgrin

Seriously good entertainment evening alert.

In the same vein........I`ve never EVER seen Star Wars, or any follow-ups.

Or ANY Star Trek film.........Time to change that......:hmmm

There's Red Dragon (prequel) also Hannibal and Hannibal Rising sequels... Which are all really good movies i liked Hannibal Rising as it showed the reasoning behind his murderousness and penchant for human flesh etc.

2001: A Space Odyssey (only seen bits of it)
Deliverance (got the DVD so will watch it this weekend probably)
Chinatown
The French Connection
Withnail and I

There's bound to be loads of others!

For me personally Star Wars comes into the category of Films People Think I Should See But I Can't Be Bothered With. I have tried to see if I could get into it once or twice but never got much further than some robot thing spinning about in what looked like a desert. Just not my cup of tea I feel. Star Trek probably in the same category although I did sometimes watch the TV series as a kid. Lord of the Rings trilogy defo in the same category of got other things to do.

2001 is on my films I should see list. It's probably one of the few Kubrick films I either haven't seen properly or haven't got into for some reason - Full Metal Jacket is another. I have tried to watch 2001 on the telly a few times and it's never really held my attention for that long. I do wonder if it's one of those films that might come across better on the big screen. So I may go to see it in the cinema sometime.

You shouldn't waste another day without getting hold of Withnail and I. Seen it at least half a dozen times myself. One of the best British films ever in my opinion. I wish I was sitting down to watch that again for the first time.

You are right, there has to be loads of others. I watched another couple of Shane Meadows films this summer and was impressed (particularly with A Room For Romeo Brass) so Dead Man's Shoes is now on my lists. I can't think of others at the moment but might post again on the subject once I've had a think about it.

i just ticked one off my list today, crash. very good film. I study film and photography at university and normally we look at much more 'arty' films, yet this one challenged issues of difference more convincingly than any other i have seen, despite being a hollywood blockbuster. A turn up for the books I say, fed up of studying overtly wanky art films that often take the substance over style thing to depressingly boring levels.

my mother sat me down in front of 2001 when i was about 6. i was so confused, disturbed and moved by it (even at that age) that i can still remember it start to finish, having not watched it once since. Good movie, Anytime anyone offered me acid when i was in my late teens, i would always think of the ten minute psychadelic scene in that movie and decline. Scary stuff for a 6 year old to get his head around
