Did anyone catch this gem from Luiz Adriano yesterday?

Rather than a free-kick, why was a drop-ball played? :g:

Drop ball was played as the ref stopped play for a head knock-which occurred in an incident not spotted by the official, so no free kick could be awarded.

So let me get this right.

-The Nordsjaelland player tries to get the Shakhtar player sent off by pretending he has been hit in the face.

-None of the officials see him trying it but the ref stops play shortly after because he sees someone down holding their head.

-Play is then restarted with a drop ball as would be normal for a stoppage for such an injury.

-The Shakhtar player scores.

And everyone, including UEFA and the Shakhtar manager, jump on the guy who scored for not honouring the "sportsmanship of giving the ball back to the other team" and totally ignore the fact that play was stopped because the Nordsjaelland player feigned being hit in attempt to get another player sent off.

Sounds more like a perfect example of karma taking action against the cheating Nordsjaelland player to me.
:dunno:

Eh, doesn't the Shakhtar player taking the "drop ball" attempt to give possesion back to Nordsjaelland (hence why it's uncontested)? The Shakhtar goalscorer is completely oblivious to this, and takes it as a through ball to run onto and score! That's my take on it anyway!

Where did the Danish teams player cheat? He took a sore one in the face, accidentally.

Adriano is an absolute tosser for what he done. Then they were going to allow nordsjaelland to walk the ball into the net but instead tackled them on the 18 yard box, disgusting by them.

I was going to say, sometimes in situations like this the opposition just lets the other team go up the park and walk one in. Take it that never happened in this instance. Not sure Adriano scored out of badness, just that he never had a scooby what was going on?! But I only have the clip to go on. Remember an Arsenal v Birmingham(?) game a few years back where something similar happened with Arsenal scoring near the end and Steve Bruce went mental! Think that game ended up getting replayed!

Did you watch the same video as I did?

The Nordsjaelland player was hardly touched, and what contact there was was chest to arm/back, then he threw himself to the floor clutching his face.

At the very least the Nordsjaelland player should get a worse punishment as he was attempting to get a player sent off something far more unsportsmanlike than playing on from a ball return after a player fakes injury.

I watched the game.

He went down like all footballers these days, I think it looked sore as he ran straight into the boys shoulder.

Shaktar were going to let them walk the ball in, they got to 18 yard box then a tackle came in.

I can't get the clip to load on phone but it doesn't sound like it shows the whole situation, have a look on YouTube, there are probably better ones.

I guess I see "went down like all footballers" as cheating. Yeah he ran into the player, then reels back a bit, then reels back again at a different angle and clutches at the top of his head (and also seems to have a sly kick our at the guys leg too) bearing no resemblence to how he ran into the guy.

Another thing is that the Ref either doesn't know his powers or he thought what happened was okay because the Ref would have been well within his rights to disallow the goal and have the dropball taken again.

Twas the Blades Kev and the first of three FA Cup games in six years where the Arse cheated their merry way past the plucky underdogs.
